Bought a fuel pump today... started the job myself.

Then realised I had no clue what to do next...

Does anyone want to earn some pennies and come over to fit this for me, car won't be going anywhere unless someone can do it!

£50 on offer. Cheers

what can't you get your head around, pretty simply really. Im sure we can help and save you £50

OK I'll tell you what I've done so far....

First of all..... :salute: - I've started this with a full tank.

I've got the lid off, pulled it up and out. Disconnected a wire + fuel pipe... then took another black pipe off it which was lower down on the pump.

Stuck at the point where there's a bracket on the back of the actual pump, which has 4 torx screws holding it in place.

HOW THE **** am I supposed to get those off?

Got a mate coming around in a bit who knows a bit but even he says he doesn't like fuel pumps. I can see why.

Me head's banging from being sat in there for half an hour breathing in 99 RON.

Would honestly be happy to pay £50 and know it's been done right! :superman:

some pics and experienced forum guys pointing you in right direction might be all you need!

DIY! That's 50 notes could be spent on other goodies!

you dont undo the torx, on the plastic bit that has the pipe and wires to the passenger side there is a little curved part that fits a finger then it slides up and off the main pump, then you can remove the main pump out of the tank

Yeah that's the guide but because some pics are missing I don't know what stuff needs pulling off and in what order.

Cheers Jason for that bit of advice. I'm put off by the fumes now. Might just leave it till tomorrow :banghead:

What a tit I am.

once you get the pump exposed and remove the pipe and electrical connector to the passenger side part, its just a case of sliding that bracket up and off the main pump then refit your new pump slide the bracket on, connect pipe and plug, then drop it into its final location and refit everything, fiddly but not worth paying £50 for it to be done as you are close now

Do you have the pump without the top part and you have to switch it over? If so this is a picture of mine, You can see the old bits are discoloured and the new bits are white. Just follow the pipes and do them like mine!

Managed to get it all done. I didn't know how to get that bracket thing back on though. Will that matter?

All running OK... just a bit worried about that bracket with the pipe attached to it. Couldn't fathom where it went before.

I wouldn't worry about it, im sure it just holds the hose to the side neatly. As long as the pipes connected that is.

Yeah that was the impression I got from it.... just couldnt work out how to slide it back on, and.. having ran into trouble at every single point of the job (literally every point) I;d just had enough of breathing in Tesco's finest.

Couldn't work out for the life of all 4 of us how to do that rubber seal thing. Kicked ourselves when we worked it out.

Thanks for the help all :)

Only problem i had after it was all fitted was i over tightened the screw fit lid and it popped off after filling up. Poured quite abit of fuel down my drive!

Yeah, I was careful not to over tighten mine when putting it back on. It's less tight now than what it was when I first started on it so hopefully that should be OK.
