On my previous Audi I had the Goodyear Eagle F1 which I thought were an excellent tyre but did wear a bit quick.

Which 'mid range' tyres would you recommend for wear? Obviously they need to be a good alrounder (noise, grip etc).
I have selected a few for you to choose from, please feel free to comment with any other brands.

I voted for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.

I've ran them a few times, the latest being on my old 335d. They were a great all-round tyre. Never had any problems with grip levels in any condition (although I did use winter tyres in the snowy months, or days as it actually worked out).

BUT, after putting 16k on them, I ended up selling them with 5.5mm on the front and 5mm on the rears. Which is good enough for me)

Never ran the FK453's yet, but have run the 452's in the past a few times, and was never impressed with their wear life.

Equally never ran the F1's or the Sportmaxx (although they were on my Passat when I got it, I have changed them recently. No idea how well they wore, but they gripped decent enough).

You had the Sessanta's for 16k and then sold them with tread on? Thats fantastic.
Think after around 12-14k my Goodyears were almost bald.

I have done 19,000 on my conti's and they still have 5mm on them .....

For wear then michelin primacy would get my vote, I get over 20K miles from them

Yep. After 16k miles they still had over 5mm on them. To be fair, the driving was mostly fast A road driving, and some town driving. Wasn't ever drifting or wheel-spinning away from junctions. But anyway, I felt at that rate, they should have easily covered 25k before needing replaced.

I got 18000 out of my Sport Maxx GT'S could of lasted to 20000 really but i had a puncture so i thought i might as well change the whole set whilst one is off. Driven by a 2.0TFSI Quattro.

If you want milliage stay away from Dunlop, i am just about to replace mine having only done 9000 on the front 235/40/18 fwd B6, i will be going back to michelin which returned over 12000 up front.

if you're going to stick with 18" go for the Goodyear Efficientgrip performance , comes in under £100 a corner from tyreleadres and its the best tyre I have ever had.. had them on the wifes old meriva turbo, If I stick with 18" I'll be ditching the SP3's for these.

mine did ? they are listed as being XL and FP ....... F being for Flange protection :wtf: fuel efficiency comes in as a B as well,

"The Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 245/40 R18 97W (XL, FP) is a performance summer tyre featuring an optimized compound on the tread, enhancing the grip on wet roads. Optimal balance between grip and rolling resistance. Shorter braking distances and good stability at high speeds."

My S-Line is like a tyre eating machine goes through them for fun i have run Avon ZZ5 for about 6 months and need swapping to the back soon

Vredestein vorti I ran on my A3 and couldn't fault them.
Read good things about uniroyal rain sport 3.
Stay clear of Dunlop maxx rt ...
Tread wear was terrible!

So what's the point of having a 535d ;)

Hi. I am currently running Vredestein Ultrac Vortis's and am very pleased with them. I paid £132 each.

Sorry, meant to add my tyre size...135/35/19
