8V VCDS Mods

I have just the £150 folding mirror option and there is a setting within the vehicle setup in the mmi. I found it strange that it's not enabled by default...

It's not different for MY15, it's in the MMI settings and no, not enabled by default!

This is only with the memory mirrors. Unless there is a menu I can't find. I only have the electric folding mirrors.

I think there is a menu you have missed....

In the Owner's Manual, on page 61 it reads...
"You can use the settings in the MMI to have the mirrors fold in when you lock the vehicle. The mirrors will then fold in when you lock the vehicle and fold out again when you switch switch on the ignition".

The A3 does not have any form of memory for the electric seats or mirrors.

Hi.

I have now retrofitted a cruise control to my A3 8V 2015-model.
I have coded it in steering wheel coding, but long coding helper on the engine module dosen’t exist.
Does anyone know where I can change the code in the engine ECU to get the cruise control to work?

Anyone in Dorset or Hampshire with VCDS that could activate the needle sweep (when I get the car) for me obviously willing to pay for your time! Or is it worth asking my dealer to it?

Yeah S3 SB that is the best news! Liking your new wheels Estoril is a stunning colour

I followed the steps to set DRL's in the off position, but the option wasn't there - scrolled down through about 100 options but "(9) Tagfahrlicht-Tagfahrlicht nur in Schalterstellung AUTO" was never listed? I was definitely following the instructions correctly, and was able to do other mods successfully. Any ideas?

That's probably because the law in the EU requires all new cars produced in the EU have DRLs that are on all the time and there must be no driver override. Why would you want to switch them off?

s3_trev gave me this information in response to a post I made about Hold Assist.
Does anyone on the VCDS section have any further details of this please?

glospete said:
  • the Hold Assist - the jury's out on this one for me. Of course I can switch it off but I like the idea and it's just that if held on the HA I need to either give a small tap to release it before I pull away or else there is a slight jolt which annoys me.
Im fairly sure this can be changed using VCDS. I done it on my GFs Golf GTD. There was 3 settings as far as I can remember. You are probably on default, so you can go one setting below and one above. So you could go one below meaning the amount of throttle you need to release the car is reduced, which may cure this gripe for you.

Thanks to s3_trev and monopole for the assistance in getting to this point. Now I have to decide whether to buy VCDS or take monopole up on his offer!
I do fancy switching on needle sweep and oil temperature in the DIS also.

Is there a spreadsheet with all the known possibilities with VCDS on the A3. This would be a great way to see what is possible.

I have those for you m8, off to work shortly and will post up this evening unless someone posts up before then :)

You are a star! Thank yoiu so much. Where is the best place to buy VCDS - I sent an email to sales@vagcom.biz but no response yet. If I decide not to buy I'll be in contact with you if I may? Is there a definitive list of what can be changed using VCDS? I looked through the thread but it would be easier if there was a complete list as a spreadsheet or suchlike.

yeah, I don't really like the look of it dimming so drastically, I set my 8P and A5 to something like 40% which though still dims, just not as much and at night they're still not too bright (because the dim on indication is also the brightness of the DRL when the head lights are on)

bright then! DRL will only go to 95% brightness max, above 50 they are BRIGHT so at night with head lights on, they can be distractingly bright for oncoming traffic.

I would say you're not on full brightness though, as many a car woulda flashed you by now

Can you turn off the DRL dipping when indicating like on the 8P?
I found this on a German site but I have no knowledge if it is correct (poor English is because it is a Google translate job):

LED daytime running lights do not blink when dimming

The onboard supply control unit, you have the option in the new Audi A3 8V, the LED daytime running lights adjusted so that it is not dimmed with the appropriate change of direction. The factory default is that when the indicator has been the daytime running lights abdimmt on the jew. Page left or right. After adjustment, the daytime running lights will not dim.

The following coding is used:

  1. Select STG 09 (vehicle power)
  2. STG access authorization -> Function 16
  3. Enter access code 31347
  4. STG adjustment -> function 10
  5. Channel (10) -Leuchte2SL VLB10-dimming CD 2 select
  6. Set value to 100
  7. Select a channel (10) -Leuchte3SL VRB21-dimming CD 3
  8. Value set to 100 (default: 30)

We've had this debate before.

It's against the EU directive, and the brightness of the 8V DRL is such that oncoming cars can't see the indicator on the non-combined DRL/Indicstor option.

Why would you increase the risk of an accident ?

moot point but, but there's an indicator on the door mirrors...? I argue against the brightness of the DRL at night only

Ah, the indicators on the door mirrors.

Unfortunately, they are angled for max intensity when viewed from the side of the car. As you move round to the front, they progressively get dimmer.

So in sunlight you would not necessarily see those when viewed from the front.

Well if its that bright not worth it, just looks crap on the 8P when they dim.

Are the indicators separate though if you don't have led headlights?
