One nagging feeling I've had since ordering a Sepang Blue S3 is that it could be a PITA to detail and keep swirl free. Today I saw a Misano Red S-Line SB and thought mmm, that's nice. What's it like to life with on a day to day basis? Does anyone know how it compares to Sepang in terms of hardness etc.

Had the same dilemma myself a short time ago

http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/colour-dilemma-sepang-blue-or-misano-red.226030/

Can't comment on how the sepang blue will be in relation to swirls etc but won't be as bad as lapis blue on the Golf R. Apparently that is a nightmare!

The wife's got a metallic black MINI JCW & that drives me nuts keeping it clean. If you want it easy I would suggest the glacier white TBH

Had a Tornado red Mk6 GTI, great colour but my god was it a stone chip magnet. New car will probably have 3m Ventureshield on the front. White would be an option but SWMBO isn't keen on white.

Would have gone for white myself, but my current car, an Audi A4, is ibis white. After 5 1/2 years I fancy a change TBH

White is a piece of cake to keep looking nice IMHO buddy :)

Going white you'll see every bug splatter on your front bumper with red spots (blood) lol
I was about to go white aswell until I saw white in person, the front didn't look too great even though the rest of the car looked clean.
Another point of white is that you'll see the rain water dirt on the side sills when you open the doors.

Blue should be ok to keep clean and swirl mark free, didn't really notice it on my previous blue Mercedes.

I ordered a Glacier White 2.0 Quattro A3 Sedan. It should be arriving the week of September 22nd. My first white car.

I had a Glacier white A3 and it's a beautiful colour, it is easy to keep looking clean and smart. Stone chips are east to touch up and don't show if you're careful.

Sepang Blue for us.

Not our car, but not long now for us, only 6 to 8 weeks to go.

It says in your signature Privacy glass and Tinted windows? Isn't that the same thing?
I'm contemplating about the red calipers but at £325 that's crazy....

unless he means he will have the front windows done either before collection or pretty much as soon as (unless the hotter climate countries offer this already on new cars)

Unless he's not in UK I thought the fronts were already factory tinted at 30% meaning you couldn't go any darker or it wouldn't be road legal.

The privacy glass comes from the factory, it's only on the rear windows, so the front is tinted by the dealership.

Had a Missano TT for three years and it hardly ever looked dirty, which was great for me as I'm a lazy sod! The Sepang S3 is 6 days old, and already filthy after on day of rain. Can feel this is going to be a pita.
The red calipers are silly money, but they look great and everyone comments. Plus, they are a nod to the memory of the TT

Any more glorious pics? Myself and Bristle need some to keep us going.

How is she driving after 6 days - pacey?

Still getting used to him (definitely a boy!). Still keep reaching to change gear, but that's a 27 year habit. Getting on better with the handbrake switch better than I thought, I'm a big handbrake user. Only done a couple of hundred miles so far as been stuck at work, but have next week off to rack up the miles. Even at this stage he is ****** quick, the gentle run in may have slipped!!
Had a Golf gti up my tail when i was stuck behind a slow moving car the other night. Road is 70mph dual carriageway and up hill. Car in front moved over so I floored it as he was annoying me. Went from 50 to a high number I could not possibly admit on a public forum in a couple of seconds. Left the tailgater standing, and surprised myself on how quick he is. The Road Angel is going to be really useful

I'll sort out more pics when i get him clean again

I've got a Misano Red S 5-door SB, have had no issues with paint, seems pretty hard, 3.5k miles (mainly motorway) and no stone chips or swirls (mind you I'm very particular how it gets washed and cleaned as that's what causes swirls)

Everyone seems to rant about Sepang Blue, lovely colour but personally it wouldn't be my choice I've always found dark metallic blues a total PITA to keep looking clean, slightest bit of rain or dust and they look dirty. Misano Red looks clean even when dirty, well happy with it. Don't get me wrong, Sepang is a lovely colour, just be prepared to wash your car more than you may be used to if you like it looking clean.

Sepang isn't a dark blue.

Estoril is a dark blue. And very exclusive.

Sepang will show swirls and spider webbing very easily if you don't spend hours cleaning it properly.

I had a Fiesta ST in metallic blue and it was a ******* to keep the paint in good order.

It will have the same PITA properties as metallic black, metallic green etc..

Then again.. All cars will eventually get swirl marks..

All I can say is don't let the dealer valet your car because when I went to Audi Southend all I could see was swirls and spider webbing on the unregistered brand new car! They must be using some cowboy because it was on EVERY new car I saw in every colour.

I will never have anyone wash my car including the dealer from now on.

+1

I asked my sales guy to not valet it and he totally understood why, it said its a shame they don't care for them properly but time does not allow for it.

The same here. Won't let the dealer or for that matter anyone else wash my cars

My Misano Red is a doddle to keep clean.... so was my White (Bright) TTS.... :)

Yes you don't really want Sepang, it's just awful go buy a Misano or even Glacier, much nicer.

Out of curiosity, whats silver like for swirls, chip etc.
Can't comment on the chips, but silver like white hides a lot of minor swirling

They are both easy enough to keep looking nice IMHO
