Jiko 2.0 tdi build tread

the car looks great , love the color :) how much work is done for 2010 facelift? is just bolt on? wings, lights, bonnet and fender?
Thanks. Yeah pretty much bolt in but lots of little parts that need changing. It does all start adding up if you have not got all parts. There are treads if you search.

So progress update on eBay rep side skirts. As you know they are fibreglass and not bolt on without mods. This is how I've got on with them. Due to them not having fixing kit I had to get creative. I decided the best way forward was to use the existing audi stripes and mod them as fixing points. They are solid and will provide the OEM fit I want. First I removed them. They are held on with strong adhesive tape. Once remove I held them in place for next step. Lining up rep skirts then using adhesive to hold the strip and skirt together. I screwed them together to be sure of a flush fit

Then once dry I added fibre glass to smooth the strip and skirt together so looked as one piece.

Once this was all dry I removed the skirt leaving a bonded and smoothed strip to the skirts.

Then used the same process for wing section and repeated for the other side.

Then the blending strip and rep skirt can continue.

I also found the skirt section that sits inside the shut was catching the bottom of the door and also the gap was not right. I don't have a s3 so searched the forum for s3 with door open. Found out that rep skirt had a section that Oem version does not! so I removed it figuring this was the cause of door catching on skirt on opening and closing door. Tried refitting and the skirts fit much better.

Then continued fibreglass blend

Once fibreglass sanded then added filler to smooth any imperfections

Everything was all sanded and shaped then time for primer

Guide coat ready for final prep and paint

Little update. skirts all painted

And a quick pic of them fitted. Excuse the masking tape bonding adhesive still wet. Better pics to follow.

I know they are not OEM but they look and fit good. The money I would have spent on OEM skirts can now be used on the interior 😁

Good work buddy, love that colour, always wanted to do a car that colour,as for the interior I would go for white leather that some s3 had

really goes with the blue,I think anyway

Thanks for comments. Yeah I love ther colour and it seems others do too. WHITE leather! Oh my days! Don't give me ideas like that. I won't let anyone get in my car to keep it clean lol

Like how different the colour is. Needs an S Line/S3 spoiler and some MY11 rear's though.

Looks epic! and i aint been funny but the bits you cut off are used to secure the side skirts from the inside.

When you open your door you will have a scuff/kick plate - once that is lifted up there is plastic pegs/dowels on the back which sit over the sections you cut off and offer support from the top.

Jonny.

* The reason door catched is on the bottom of there door there is a blade/trim which also comes off. It is screwed to a fastening block and also glued, The S3's have a different blade/trim which actually sticks out more and lines up with the edge of the side skirt - i had to file my blade down to get the door to shut.

Thanks. I agree with rear lights. I'm not to bothered about spolier at moment though

Thanks j. Where was you a week ago with this info. Lol. Not got a s3 so had no idea. I removed the scuff plate but didn't know s3 had different door blade. Well they fit well with the original blade and scuff plate now.

Sunny day shoot.

The colour really stands out. Just need to get fog lights fitted now.

Hi all been busy working so not done much to car. Fitted my bumper fog lights and picked up this interior for good price.

I fitted interior today much better than my old cloth interior. Previous owner of car let them get in bad shape. New leather interior contrast well with the blue.

Will you be changing steering wheel? I have same 4 spoke wheel so interested how if you do...
Hi not planned on changing wheel but never say never. I'll post progress if I do

Car looks good, but the new seats :puke:
Thanks. Lol. But if you do throw up seats leather now So easy to clean off. I would have preferred rs3 seats but that would be dreaming. Way to expensive rs3

Love the colour! Really unique!

Rear lights mates! Get onto them :D

As mentioned before by someone, the s3/s line spoiler would also look really good!
Also what you reckon of s3 style twin pipes in chrome slightly sticking out from the rear?

But car looks stunning and coming along well ! Top job!

I've been reading some posts and the 3dr a3 pre facelift has the single stage airbag, the newer steering wheels have a dual stage airbag, someone recently on the forums had an accident in their audi a3 which they had swapped over the steering wheel and he said all airbags APART from steering wheel airbag deployed. So definitely would look into that before swapping the steering wheel, safety is number 1 priority!

Looking good fella!

For some reason i kind of like the contrast with the blue and (am i going to say this) cream interior!

But i have to admit i think a set of black leathers would look smarter.

Great work mate (y)
