Just Had Apr Stage 2 Re-map On My S3

A couple of other points.....the ITG was marketed by APR when they were with VWRacing in the UK,under the VWR name.

I think your tuner has been a little economical with the way you've been treated here, and has a duty to ensure the car runs properly before handing it over to you.

As above, you don't NEED the RS4 PRV,but if you intend to go further with the car,it makes sense to fit it now.

Agreed - when I got my ahem APR Carbonio (in hushed voice) I spoke with APR as they were the distributors of the VWR kit which I originally wanted so I'd find it hard to believe they'd be selling the VWR kit knowing it was problematic with their maps.

I know guys it's not good. Nice guys over there can't fault them person wise lol, but talk aload of rubbish.

I've just ordered plugs and fuel filter and cam follower so will give that a try and if no joy will go back on the weekend and see what's what.

I've always had mine done at Awesome Gti. Definitely a far superior experience to what you appear to have had.
I know basically flashing by laptop (as long as it's charged!) is no different but Awesome have a dedicated setup just for this and it is simply more professional. Also being the main APR dealer for the UK they have plenty of experience of the product.
Have you spoke with them as they are the main contact point for APR over here and will have seen your issue before I'm sure.
I wouldn't go 2+ until you pinpoint the issue tbh and has been said, you can get your money back within 30 days if your not satisfied

Yes i bet its a whole differenct experiance down at awsum, well i was going revo and changed my mind at the last minute.

I just changed the plugs and no difference, put standard airbox back on and still the same hestitating after 6000rpm.

Im changing the fuel filter tomorrow, was going to do the cam follower also (is this an easy diy) and if that doesnt cure it then im going back and seeing what can be done.

Don't forget about coil packs as well, as Alex mentioned in an earlier post. Very common cause of misfire/stuttering.

Nope havent ruled them out yet, haha but its strange as its only 6000rpm and above. Being totaly honest im not overly happy going from standard with itg and miltek to stage 2 doesnt really feel like wow factor. Might be because im only geting so much percentage untill i find this hesitation but up to that im not overly impressed.

Hope you get this sorted, not what you want when you're looking forward to going stage 2.

Not sure how easy they are to install but from what I have read they need to be done in a very clean environment and with the correct tools.

Hi guys just a quick question, the Auto-tech internals are they fairly easy to install?

Relatively straightforward but reliability depends on being built carefully and clean.

AMD built mine which has survived over 50000 miles.

They do work and they are reliable but you also have Loba,IE and APR to choose from.

Yes I'm sure I can find a clean environment haha, and I know there's loba etc but they are a lot more £££. Just I got a chance of an already built up 2nd hand pump for £350 or do I buy the internals for £325 if it's not to hard to do???

Juat orderd my pump so if this doesnt cure the problem then its definatly the map. Fingers crossed.

Also what is the difference between stage 2 and 2+ As i will now have a pump?

Cheers for all your help guys

The pump is the last piece in the puzzle for 2+, give the 2+ map a try. It may clear the problem.

The uprated HPFP deals with the problem that the stock one has in delivering enough fuel at midrange rpm and fills out the loss of torque that you otherwise get.

Aww right cheers guys, just hope it cures my problem.

I didn't have a problem showing a focus ST who was boss last night as he was banging and poping down the road. Sounds good for the first time but not every 10 seconds!!! Wiped a smile of his face anyway!!! :)

That's half the fun of it....

I've had a number of people in far "better" cars wonder what the little white thing that just left them was....

Haha I bet, looking forward to seing your car down at AMD. Being your standard car that is road legal etc would you say being 500+ bhp it's the most powerful S3 yet??

Thx......It would be nice, but I'd have to say there are a few others around with the same sort of figures, and one Golf R I know of thats' running 750bhp on race fuel, and 650 at the pumps.

All I can say is that the Romanians and Greeks are both mad,and an inspiration at the same time...LOL

There are some very quick cars around out there.

I need mine to be every-day reliable so I do things in stages, and make sure each holds together before going for the next, but my Eastern European mates always give me ideas and help.

A slight thread hijack but if I'm running stage 2+ would I lose much performance or notice much difference if I took my cai off and fitted standard airbox again?

Quick answer....

The stock intake may limit airflow at peak rpm and cause misfires.

This exactly what we found with mine on Stg2 when trying to keep the thing looking like stock.

Thanks for your opinion as usual Alex.
I was thinking of fitting my Carbonio and panel filter to quieten things down but don't want to sacrifice power.

More than welcome to thread hi jack it's good to get everyone's opinions etc on the same matter!

I'm on stage 2 at mo and obv I got this problem I tried standard air box and it didn't make any difference and being totally honest It made the car feel slow.

Alex!! With my new pump, once fitted and finger crossed my hesitation is gone should I leave it a week or to before I go 2+ or just jump straight in and go for it?

Even if there would be a sport's panel filter in the standard airbox?

I'm not a revver to be honest and.my car doesn't see above 5000 rpm that often.
Hence the.question

Tried one of those along the way.....made little or no difference, and certainly not at Stg2.

By all means try it,but I think you may hit problems with airflow.

Fit pump, get mapped to 2+ to make use of the extra pressure which means more power.

I'd have both done at the same time...pump and Stg2+

Is the noise starting to get to you mate?

Is it my understanding that he should be able to fit this right away and notice if his problem is gone? Of course I know to get the full benefit he will need to have it mapped.. But as far as i've heard they even benefit at stage 1 and are worth a punt regardless?

I just got my car mapped by ecotune Scotland, done on the RR (Apr stage 1). Car pulls like an absolute train and is making crazy figures for what I regard a stage 1, duno if its had the uprated pump in the past tho cause that would make a lot more sense.. tuner says its running slightly rich after 5000rpm.. Thats not anything I should be worried about is it?

And i'm running the forge twintake too.. Almost silent compared with the mtc marshy

I'd give it a good go Kelza... Just slightly higher than standard Rs3 power... All I was looking for really :)
