Hi guys, I have a 2006 Audi A3 SE Sportback. I am in the process of converting it to the S line model, from years 2005-2007. I already have the 18 inch OEM S line alloys, currently sourcing some lowering springs with uprated shocks and now all I need is the front and rear S line bumper and valance/diffuser.

As for the front bumper, if I only purchase this, will it be okay?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-BUM...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c89c01f8a

Will this fit with my current grill? Also as the SE spec does not come with any fog lights, will my current SE lower grilles fit in the S line bumper? If not, would my only option be to purchase the S line lower grilles and have empty fog lights? ( i dont plan to retro fit fog lights).

As for the rear bumper, Im not sure if the rear bumper comes with the valance/diffuser or would I need to purchase that separately? anyone kindly point me out the correct parts numbers etc. thanks

The front bunper fits. Be be aware that the s line front bumper does not have headlight washers (if you have xenons). Mot fail if you have xenon and dont have washers. As for the main grill, it will also fit, but recommend on buying a genuine s-line grill for a perfect look. The fog grills you have will bot fit the bumper. You will need to buy a pair of fog grills. I am not sure if they come without fog light holes

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully I do not have Xeon lights, just the basic halogen so this should not be a problem for me. I'm not too fussed about the s-line grille but if I can get it for cheap then maybe. As long as my current one fits I'm good.

Hmmm unfortunately I would have to get the lower S-line fog grilles. As for the hole, I'm thinking I can get a pair of dummy fog lights and and just stick them in. Do you think this would work?

Fog lights arent hard to retrofit hard as you think. Why hassle yourself on doing dummy fogs when you can get working ones? You need a headlight switch, pair of fog lights then kufatec has a retrofit fog loom. Plug them in to the ce module then probably simple coding. Then you have working fog lights

Your current grill will fit straight onto the s line bumper you have linked above. (Id recommend spraying it gloss black for a better look, but thats down to preference)

New fog grills will be needed, just had a quick look on ebay and didnt manage to see any 2006-2008 s line fog grills, so might be dealer only parts.
If i recall correctly, the foglights for the 2006-2008 s line bumper are specific for that bumper and are not the same as the other 2005-2008 bumpers.
If you really are not bothered about the foglights just buy the grills and blank them manually?

Rear s line sportback bumpers are not too bad on price tbh. There is a white one for sale in Birmingham, with PDC holes and lower valance/splitter for £55!

(3dr + 5dr front end parts are the same so can use a bumper, grills ect from either, however rear parts are specific to 3drs and 5drs)

Thanks for the reply. Omy193 how will I go about blanking the fog grilles? Also the ebay link you showed me for the rear bumper for £50, it states that it is facelift 2009-2011 version but doesn't say whether its s0-line rear bumper or not, how can you be sure of this?. Will this also fit my pre-facelift 2006 A3?

I suppose you could cut out plastic around the same shape as the fog light hole and plastic weld or stick them in the place instead of foggies. Just an idea, dont know if its been done before. And the seller has mis-described the bumper, if you look lower in the description it says 2006 s line bumper. But even if it was 2009-2012 if would fit anyway

Sorry I am slightly confused as to what version A3 S line front bumpers can fit. I was under the assumption that only face lift (2008/9 onwards) A3 s line can only fit face lift A3's and only pre face lift s line bumper (2005-2007) can fit pre face lift A3's. Please can someone clarify this. thanks

Yes thats correct for the front bumper. As the facelift front end has different bonnet wings + lights.

However any 5dr rear bumper (2005-2012) will fit any 5dr a3.

Thanks for the info. Just one more question. On the factory S-line the double exhaust for the petrol version. For the diesel the twin pipes points downwards. Is there different shapes for the rear bumper diffuser holes for the petrol and diesel exhausts or are both same shape?

I thought S-line rear bumper only have holes for the twin exhaust? I have the twin exhaust anyway as I have the 2.0 TDI but they point down. that is my concern, if I get a rear s line bumper where the hole is specifically meant for petrol twin pipes that point straight ahead. are the hole shape for exhaust all the same?

It will still fit fine, but would look better if you have the twin pipes changed to the s3 style ones for a better look.

Perhaps I will change the tail pipes to S3 in the future. For now, I have ordered the S-line front bumper (one I posted the link on ebay in my first post on this thread) for £185 including delivery. It would need a respray so an additional £200ish including fitting. Also ordered the front fog light grilles for £70 including p&p.

Not sure if I will bother with the rear S-line bumper, I don't find that as noticeable as the front to be honest and I am on a budget.

Oh, where can I sell my existing front bumper? If I take it to Audi breaker will they accept? how much would they give me?

Main differences on the s line rear bumpers compared to the standard are the rear valance and the body colour coded strip just below the boot.

Suppose you could offer your old bumper up on the classified section of the forum or on ebay

Hi Sorry but one more thing unsure of. My current A3 SE has the parking sensors. Therefore can I fit ANY Audi A3 8PA S-Line 2004-2012 rear bumper, as long as its for the 5dr sportback and has the parking sensor holes, WITH the double tail cut for the exhaust?

I am finding it very very difficult to find one that meets all criteria.

In my first message where i sent a link to a white bumper on ebay in bham
that had the holes for the parking sensors but single cut out on the valance, but a twin valance is not too hard to source.

And the link you provided in your last post seems genuine but looks like a single cut out on the valance

I tried to get that rear bumper you suggested from Bham but unfortunately it now sold. Any idea how much it will cost to get the bumper primed and sprayed silver and fitted?

All depends on which body worker you use.
Some are cheaper than others depending on locality.

But id say around the £200 sort of mark?

P.S If ive helped, feel free to click the 'Like' button :p

Thanks Omy you have really been helpful. One thing I am struggling to make sense of are the front fog grilles. Apparently there are 2 version one for 2005-2008 s line and and another for 2006-2008 s line. Which ones would I need??

If you are buying the 2006-2008 s line bumper you will need the specific fog lights and grills for that bumper.

the 2004-2006 s line bumper is the same as the SE and Sport bumpers upto 2008

I hope this bumper is not the same as the bumper I have one right now!

Yes mate thats the newer s line bumper (2006-2008) so all good there.

Your current grill will swap straight over.

New fog light grills and fog lights will be need however.

Hmm yes true.

Mine is a 55 reg Sportback S Line and i have the older style bumper.

Maybe the 3dr's 55 onwards came with the newer style bumper?

hmmmm

Here is another 5dr s line on a 55reg with the same bumper as mine : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201408296961264/sort/default/page/3/model/a3/radius/1500/make/audi/usedcars/postcode/b82aa/keywords/s line/onesearchad/used,nearlynew,new?logcode=p

From having a quick look on the trader... the 55reg 3dr a3 sline's seem to have the newer bumper
where as the 55 reg 5dr sportback have the older bumper

having said that, have a look at this one:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...w/make/audi/model/a3/postcode/b82aa?logcode=p

Again 55 reg, but has the newer front and rear bumpers along with the s line spoiler which is usually on the 2006+ sportback s line's (mine has the older front and rear bumpers and no spoiler)

So possibly could be due to it being an early 55 reg and the later ones had the different bits n bobs?

I will be spending around £400 just for this s line bumper. Omy in your view is the bumper really that noticeable from my current bumper? Does it really improve the look?

Yes mate, personally i think its a big difference, looks a lot better. Always wanted to changed the bumper on mine to the newer s line one but thinking of selling this a3 and possibly getting another so thats the only reason i've held back on mine.

The rear boot spoiler is also a must in my opinion, another big difference!

Cheers mate. Any ideas on where I can get the original s line boot spoiler lid from to fit my car? See a lot of variations on ebay. I remember that it is also quite tricky to fit this part?

Lol ive been looking for a spoiler myself for the past month now.
Hardly any genuine ones come up on ebay. Ive seen a few being sold along with the tailgate but too much hassle again.
Was wondering whether the ones from abroad on ebay (poland ect) are worth it?
around the £70 mark and need fitting and spraying?
Cant be too bad quality i suppose its only a spoiler lol

And fitting wise i think the old piece has to be removed and the new one fitted with special bonding? or if its genuine spoiler it may have the holes for proper fitment.
Could be wrong so apologies in advance if thats the case

Hmmm, in that case I dont think I will bother with the rear spoiler. Too much hassle and money and I do not anything that's not OEM. I wouldn't bother with the ones from poland, it won't be an original look and the quality will be questionable.
