Fuel Injection Pump Belt

Hi.
Just had an oil change service on my 3.0 TDI and my mechanic asked about the Fuel pump belt.
Does this need to be changed at a specific interval?

not really,take the cover off and see if it looks ok ,if you want you can fit one yourself,it looks same as a cambelt,you just take old off and put new one on,no locking it up or marking anything. If it fails all that will happen is car will cut off,as it will stop fuel pump from working.
