hey guys thanks for the help.

tried search function but nothing came up for 8l.
s3 amk, has a slight stutter on full throttle, having trouble with starting in the mornings, cranks over for a while then fires up then dies straight after, second try and its starts fine. also has run out of petrol twice, first on 20 miles range and second time on 25 miles range (i know i shouldnt let it run that low, but just caught out after work). am i right in thinking its the fuel pump or clogged filter? could the fuel sensor be faulty too?
just wanted a second opinion as i work 6-7 days a week and need my car to get to work so leaving it at a garage would make things difficult for me.
thanks guys.

I would like to know what te issue is as my car has broke down on the m25 when I got caught in traffic and went from quatre to redline in 5-10 minutes of traffic... Ten as it reached top of red died and would start back up and I had 30miles left...

Have you checked for split pipe work mate? Has it been scanned/fault codes red? Could be a dodgy crank sensor? Quite a few things it could be dude. When tanks are low they do tend to pick up the crap from the bottom of the tank!

when you say split pipe work? i assume you mean the pcv system? if so yes has also most of the pcv pipes replaced. no visible leaks under the car, no fuel leaks. unfortunately there is no one i know of with vag com near me (eastbourne) so havent had it scanned, just trying to diagnose it the old fashioned way lol
thanks

thats what i used to think, but since I've been breaking 4motions/R32/S3's for the some years now every time i remove a fuel pump and syphon out the remaining fuel i have yet to see any tanks with any noticeable crap at the bottom of the tank

Also when you consider that the swirl pot sits on the bottom of the tank and the pick up is on the bottom its drawing fuel from the bottom of the tank all the time anyway
