Firstly let me apologise for another boost issue thread.

I've been running a 325hp Backdraft big turbo kit on my AMK for 70k miles now, and never had an issue until a week ago when the turbo died on me.
rather than making the long trip to backdraft, I thought I'd trust the job to my local race engineer, a trusted mate!
He replaced to GT28RS with the new 2860, but the bigger 350hp option.
Now I'm only getting 1.0bar of boost maximum.
Does anyone know what the Revo 3 map should boost, and where my problem might be?
cheers

No Mbc fitted
For the life of me I can't remember what it was boosting, gotta be my age! Would I be right in thinking I'd seen 1.54 bar on the liquid gauge?
Sorry I can't be more use, I'm no mechanic.

Sorry I can't be more use, I'm no mechanic.

liquid will only ever show 22psi max (1.55bar)
you have vcds to log?
Has the ecu been reset? Can you check the revo sps settings?

Actuator psi different to before?

all this can make a difference

No, I don't but I might no a man who can log it.
As far as I know the ECU hasn't been touched.
The mechanic said he will adjust the actuator rod today, but I was looking for confirmation on this before he does.
Sorry Bill, I'm probably not helping here but I do appreciate your help.

there's a few presumptions here..

(IF) the ecu as as before and not been reset on its sps boost control, IF its running n75 control on its revo3 (unusual from what I've seen previously which is why I ask) then the wastegate static pressure on the new turbo may be less than it used to be.. IF thats the case, then the logging of blocks 115/118 would go some ways to confirming if its trying flat out on n75% to achieve a requested boost level OR if that requested boost level is just low.... and SPS setting thing perhaps

All kinda subjective sight and logs unseen

Adding some preload to the existing actuator would increase it but you describe >0.5bar of difference which is more than actuator adjustment alone would normally "wind in"

Ok, I think I follow you.
I've just had a run up the road and it read 1270mbr of boost. So maybe the actuator arm could be the issue here.
If I let him adjust it and it's not the problem, I assume it can just be readjusted?
Maybe I should just bring it to you.
I've always thought you'd be the man to get the best out of it.

No, that reading was from a dash mounted boost gauge.
If we adjust the actuator arm, what boost would you recommend? (Forged rods and pistons in a rebuild 40k ago)

1.2bar gauge boost yea?

its not a set (x) level of boost, its the overall level of boost, fueling and ign...
logging is essential to dialing it in..

Yeah 1.2bar.
I thought that might be the case.
I kinda hoped the Revo settings would just work ok still.
So be it, sounds like I'm going to be needing to get it booked in for a mapping session then Bill. What else would you recommend before that? I don't know of any other issues.

vcds and a revo sps unit and some additional preload on the actuator are probably what you need to dial it in again

Ah Steve.

It's a real shame you only posted this this morning!

without meaning to sound too creepy, I was only looking at your car yesterday when I was in pompey and thinking how nice it was and noticing things like the brembos and the exhaust and wondering what was under the bonnet!

I had my laptop in the car too with VAGCOM. D'oh!

Like a Magpie!

There I was, riding my bike, pretending I'm still young, when my eyes were drawn to a shiney facelft S3. nice wheels, shiney brakes, I just had to go and take a closer look!

I love a stalker me!

Talking of stalkering - I've seen your car so many times parked at the end of Baileys / Somers road on my way to uni, always thought to myself it can't be standard under that bonnet! She's a lovely looking car mate, i look upon its stance with envy each time i drive by!!:icon thumright:

Move in to my new place down there on saturday so i might see you about !

Now I feel guilty for not keeping it cleaner!

I'll keep an eye out for you will.
