I'm off to look at an s line 2.0tdi and wondered where would I find the engine code and which codes to avoid?

Should be a sticker in the service manual, and also in boot near the spare wheel well.
BLB is the one that you probably want to avoid as its the worst of the bunch - but there are still problems with other codes also.
