Hi, I test drove an Audi a 2007 2.0tfsi stronic dsg the other day and was very impressed!

I didn't notice any hesitations from standstill.

However , what I did notice was that whilst cruising at 50-60mph in D or S mode, when I put my foot down instead of immediate acceleration what happened was the the revs almost redlined, and then after a noticeable delay, it would kick down a gear or two. ( delay of perhaps 0.5-1.0 second) A way round was to paddle shift of course.

My question is; is this kick down delay normal, with the revs almost red lining before it happens?

Thanks,
Michael

noticeable delay of 1.0 second??

anyway, mine delays before the power kicking in when I make it kickdown. i think it uses that time to figure out what gear it wants to drop to, then matches engine revs and then goes.

What you probably experiencing is that it is reacting immediately and shifting to the lowest possible gear, then hitting the rev limiter and shifting up almost immediately. This is the way the gearbox is programmed, it would be much better if it knew it would be near the top of the rev range then select the next gear up, but it doesn't!

Did you press far enough to click the switch under the throttle? Needs a bit of a push, that's why it's called kick-down.

Pardon me if you already know this.:undwech:
