Hi y'all

Got the car on order but not happy with the exhaust note. Is there anything I can do without replacing the exhuast to get a roar from it?

I have had mine (SB) for five months, and as the miles go one it is sounding better and better.

Sound is improved with a decent induction kit - I recommend you steer clear of the pipercross kit as I was really disappointed with the quality.

What do you recommend? And how much am I looking at? (Sorry I'm a noob at these things)

Mine makes plenty of noise.....thought it would be too quiet before I got it but if anything it's been getting louder.

My neighbour has moaned at me for it being noisy on start up. He does shifts so gets in at like 6am - the S3 keeps waking him up when the Mrs takes it to work in the morning. Says it all I guess.....

Love it!

Flapper mod increases noise a little... And as others have said it does seem to get louder over time (I'm only 1500km in and have noticed it)

The car will definitely get louder over time. With my a3 I wanted some more noise so I went to powerflow to have the backbox removed and replaced with straight pipe to the bumper. Even that has got louder over the month or so I have had it on.

I'd give it 2-3k miles then see how you feel, then decide, induction kit or exhaust etc.

I've had a couple of S3s drive past me and they both sounded different, one quiet, one a bit louder so I assume one was just older, didn't sound loud enough for a custom exhaust.

As others have said plus it depends what mode you have drive select set to. In sport mode it leaves the flap in the exhaust open, whereas in other modes like auto it's in degrees of close.

Actually not having it too loud on motorways is better IMO......

I think the noise levels are just about spot on and as others say, it seems to get louder as time goes on.

Our bedroom is above the garage and if the wife starts the car up while I'm still in bed, everything in the room starts vibrating and rattling! Our previous 330D never did that!

I'd wait until you actually get it to make your mind up about the exhaust noise buddy :icon thumright:

Coming from the V6 the sound is sacrificed for the S3, sometimes I don't even know the car is on it's so quiet, but when you push the pedal...!

Some of the mods available sound too fart like, this one sounds quite nice
