The roof lining and the other bits coming down to the doors is a light coloured grey.
Has anyone painted or dyed these bits? It might be a bit of a daft question I know lol.

People do this all the time on other cars, but I've not seen it done on one of these yet.
I've just changed all of mine out for an S4 set as I've seen various outcomes from dying them though from more or less factory, to absolutely awful which is why I just bought the S4 stuff.

If you have an Avant and want to collect my old grey headlining (I live in Manchester) to try it before pulling all your stuff out you can have it FOC before I take it to the tip on Monday.

It'd be far easier to buy a new black one in my opinion, I've never heard of anyone dying there's but they come down extremely easy with minimal trim removal.

Maybe try a scrappers for a cheap one.

I want a black one too but generally hear it's not an easy job changing them.

It's the trims down to the dash and doors too, not just the roof lining.
Many years ago (Ford Capri) I used some vinyl brush on paint on the interior roof. Looked ok from memory lol.

ive painted other car roof linings with a can of black spray paint and had great results, used to do it with parcel shelfs too!

On my last car I tried using just for men hair dye on the parcel shelf as it was grey and I wanted it black... results were far from acceptable ended up just looking like it had dirty patches of black.

I've just fitted an S4 avant black interior which was missing 1 small piece which fits above rear side windows. I used HYCOTE Satin black spray paint to paint my original Grey piece and it did the job brilliantly. This was only a small piece so I couldn't say how well bigger bits would come out with colour consistency. I have also used this method to do Grey parcel shelves in other cars.

I've seen parcel shelves sprayed and they look sound. I was thinking of using plastidip on the hard plastic parts, used it on the bonnet grill trim brilliant stuff.

Yours may be different to mine but I never had any hard plastics, all my top half interior from roof liner down are cloth covered.

Yeah the only hard plastic bits are those handles for nervous passengers, the central interior light cover and other little bits. I think they would look ok sprayed with plastidip.

Only thing with plastidip is if you touch the handles and light bits a fair bit surely it will rub off.

Ahh yes I see now. Yeah my interior came with all those bits in black. You could attempt to acrylic spray those too but like what's been said it could come off with usage.

i sprayed my Leon Cupra headliner and interior plastics the finish was excellent. i colour coded the liner even painted the visors it never marked either

Black headliner won't look very good with beige grab handles, map lights, seatbelt adjuster, sun-visors (including the mini one), pillar airbag logos and even the rear view mirror, all beige.

I sourced all the black S4/RS4 (B7) plastics when I retrimmed mine in black Alcantara. End result is great. Don't think you can get away with painting plastics that are going to be handled or rubbed, it'll just wear and end up looking horrible.

Alcantara retrim is definitely a doable DIY, just need a tin of contact/fabric adhesive (not the spray crap), some good quality fabric with plenty of stretch (genuine Alcantara is best) and a helper: http://www.matteasom.com/auto/2013/headliner-alcantara-retrim/

Got a bit bored of the Alcantara recently as it's starting to become commonplace, carbon however...

Carbon a4 pillars

Not seen anyone do this yet

Funney as **** :lmfao:
