Audi Macclesfield have basically been lying to me. Finally got order number from them and checked customer service with Audi themselves. Despite promises I had build week 31, there is no allocation for the dealer, let alone a build week - status P, not accepted.

Found another dealer who can get me build week 37 by re-speccing one they already have on order, which is a freaking pain, but better than no car.

So really... any advice on how to deal with Macclesfield to get the deposit? Any advice on dealers who might be able to get me a september delivery on a 3 door s3?

Cheers.

Very dissapointed - paid deposit easter monday and expected rather better than this ;/

Did you pay by credit card? You have certain protections when you do that. You can threaten them with a chargeback based on the fact that they have been lying to you. I'd kick up a massive fuss and make sure they make it up to you in some way that you are happy with - whether that's just an apology, extra options added on, more discount, or whatever!

The problem is I want the car, and I can't see them providing it any time soon. Think I did pay on CC yes. Will investigate that option.

Have you asked for a refund?
When I found out a VW dealer had been messing me around, I asked for a refund and they immediately agreed.

A reputable dealer should refund your deposit without any trouble, particularly if they're at fault.

I'd ask them first and see what they say. Take it further if needed with the credit card company but I'd bet the dealer won't want to make matters worse.

When I put down my deposit it was stated up front by my dealer that it was fully refundable at any time.

I would politely - but firmly - ask for the deposit back.

If there was any problem - then I would mention contacting Audi UK to complain with all the details of your experience of this dealer. I would imagine the dealer would want to avoid this.

Edit to add: just remembered we did cancel an order and get the deposit refunded to a visa debit card, but that was within an hour of placing the order over the phone (long story). Though there are rules allowing a change of mind within 7 or is it 14 days.

I cancelled my first order for an S3 last August after the dealer couldn't give me a build date more than 2 months after placing the order (plus other mitigating personal factors).

I knew from reading the T&C's on the back of the order form that the deposit was only refundable at the dealer's discretion so I politely asked for the refund stating that my reasons and they had no hesitation in refunding me.

Terrible service. What spec did you want as my local dealer had a S3 3 door in stock.

Only with BMW. I ordered an M3 a few years back, then the sale of the house fell through on us and so I needed to cancel the car. It was just five weeks after the order was placed. They agreed to cancel, but refused to refund my deposit. So, first off I spoke to a pal of mine who's a solicitor, which confirmed what I already knew, then I paid their sales manager a visit... he claimed that the car had gone into build and the spec I had ordered would 'be difficult' to sell. Oh, what utter crap that was! I kicked off a bit and then out pops their sales director (for the dealership)... anyway, I left 5 minutes later with my deposit refunded. I wonder how many people don't stand up to them? After that experience, I did not re-order my M3 and instead bought a Cayman S, so they did me a favour I suppose... from what's described above, I see no reason at all why the dealer would not refund your deposit in full. Hope you get it sorted ASAP.

Specced sepang blue 3dr with everything significant except lane assist, privacy glass, phone box, mag ride and advanced key.

If you can get your deposit back, Leeds Audi had a black Sportback in their showroom a few weeks ago - big spec.

My dealer hasn't asked for any deposit. I only pay the cash contribution the day I pick it up. Why do some dealers ask for a deposit and some dont?

Had a similar issue with my S3 saloon order back in March. Despite stating up front that I needed it by 1 September, and being promised it by July, after 6 weeks I still didn't have a build week and was then told I'd only be given the indicative build week in July. So sourced an alternative (York Audi, really helpful) and cancelled the original and asked politely for a refund. No real issues, other than it taking a couple of weeks for the money to hit my card

You are entitled to your deposit back. They can only keep any of your money if they can prove that there were expenses associated with your order, which is nigh impossible.

Try other dealers, I managed to do a deal on a stock order and got it the spec changed to suit me in total I will have waited well less than six weeks to collection. This would probably be easier at a larger dealer chain.

Cancelled and they say they'll return deposit. Dissapointing. Now to work out what I do car-wise given I've probably missed summer...

Get a dealer to update an existing order for you, I've waited less than six weeks and pick mu new car up tomorrow......

So get a Quattro and enjoy winter instead!
Just remember that Quattro will help you get up hills covered in snow and ice, but it will not help you coming back down them.

So hi ;-p Anyway, long story short, it seems the guy who was handling me has 'left' the dealership and they are extremely apologetic and arranging the refund. In the meantime I have arranged a second hand 997.2 porsche 911. So, that was a change in plan. It's still a quick 4wd car I can put a bike on though ;-p Anyhow, MAcclesfield have a build week 38 S3 in the pipeline if anyone wants one without a wait.

Is an estimated delivery date and confirmed BW different?
Mine has gone through via fleet order rather than standard customer order due to going through broker.

The document I signed says end of Feb 2015, do I need to chase them up for a confirmed BW?

Mine arrived at dealers just over a week after BW

Just asked my Mrs who's a solicitor and she says that you are paying for goods and services so unless the car is delivered they HAVE to give you your money. Just the same as the dealer can refuse to sell you the car up till signing the paperwork
