Hi ALL!

Well after my last set of mods as previously posted on here I was not happy with the way my front headlights and rear brake lights looked. I have been working towards a totally BLACK (Stealth) A3. I have a picture of how I would like my car to look in my minds eye so to speak.

I have seen many A3 all of which have a little something I like BUT I did not just want to go straight out and copy them!! I was also looking to get a S Line 3rd brake light spoiler but could not justify the cost, especially as most are being sold complete with the door!!!

I decided to go to Polimax based in Bethnal Green and saw Robert the owner there. I explained to him the look I wanted and after a lot of deliberation decided to go ahead with having Lamin-X applied. I also note from the US Lamin-X website, his shop is one of only 2 in the UK shown as authorised dealers/suppliers. They do not hold any of the pre cut kits but rolls of the film!!! I especially wanted my 3rd brake light to be discreet and I hope you will all agree it fits the bill as seen in the following photos.....!!!

I have posted photos of the work being carried out but as I was using my iPhone inside with poor lighting the quality is lacking definition but has caught the essence of what took place.

Please feel free to leave any feedback as I just wanted to share my experience with you.

Regards,

Nice. It's something I've been pondering for a good long time. Did you go for the 'light smoke' film in the end?

I went for 3 shades!!! Tint, Smoked and Charcoal. Charcoal for the 3rd brake light and tint for the headlights and fogs.

OK. Are you running Xenon headlights there? I recall reading that Xenons can get hot enough to peel the films.

I have Bi-Xenons and will have to see if it has any impact on the Lamin-X film. One thing for sure is that it is quite thick so do not know if this will have a positive or negative effect on the film. Robert at Polimax did ask me if I had Xenons when I first enquired about Lamin-X but I did not push the issue.

Hope this helps but if you have any concerns I am sure that he will be the best person to answer any doubts you may have....

David.

You cam buy a tint spray can't you i believe it wont fail the MOT with black lights will just get an advisory for dull light or so i believe anyway

I had the SPI vision (fly eye) light tints on my S3, they looked OK but compromised on light output drastically. a loss of around 50%. Absolute waste of money IMO. Plus they were a nightmare to keep clean because all of the tiny holes collected dirt and didnt seem to want to let it go regardless of how well you cleaned them.

I was looking at the lamin-x as a replacement. Does it affect light output in any way?
