So my S1 is now 2 weeks old and I've loved every one of the 1K miles I've covered so far. There are few options I'm really happy i managed to get. Both Quattro packs (Interior & Exterior) are well worth getting if you can afford them.

Interior plus points:
The super-sports seats are extremely comfortable and supportive and look the part.
The black vent surrounds with the red inner lip look amazing and really suit/add to the look.
I havent personally tried the heated seats yet but have turned them on for others (without them knowing) and have had reports back that they are very warm :)

Exterior Plus points:
The red flashes inside the headlights grab everyones attention and i have had nothing but positive feedback about them.
The red brake callipers are a must i don't think the car would look right without them.
The black with polished lip and spokes are a great contrast against the sepang blue body and there is also plenty of space between the spokes to see the red brake callipers. sometimes i find you can have nice looking brakes but the spokes on the wheels are soooo thick or there are soooo many that they hide the brakes.
I'm not a huge fan of chrome at all but I've become quite fond of the chrome front grill with the silver lower lip and silver fake brake ducts at either side, I think it looks alot better than being all black.
I wasn't happy about the black Quattro sticker on the side of the car that comes with the Quattro exterior pack at first but you really don't notice it on the sepang body so it doesn't bother me at all.
The tinted rear window look really good against the sepang body.

Day to day life with it involves:
Being able to pack pretty much anywhere i want due to it being such a small car.
I get around 350 miles from a tank which costs around £52-£57 to fill so I'm more than happy with that also.
It attracts alot of attention on the road for a few reasons, lots of people don't even know Audi make an S1, some people have told me 'its a gorgeous car and a great colour' which gets me smiling every time i get told this, I've had people taking pictures of it in car parks and when I've been on the M'way. :)

Bad points:
Why couldn't it have come with the same spoiler as the sportback as in my personal opinion it looks alot better.
Why has the passenger sun visor got 2 HUGE Bright yellow stickers on it that look like they have been printed onto the visor itself and i cant find an easy way to remove them! ggggrrrrrr.
Why doesn't it come with mats all-round as standard? are Audi really that hard up for cash they cant give us rear mats?
In the position i like my seat set in the steering wheel seems to high and the drivers door arm rest is too far away, on a long journey this could become irritating.
Not being able to slide the front arm rest forward.

Things I would like:
Can the hill hold assist be programmed in as a retro-fit?
Cruise control.
Folding wing mirrors
Self dimming rear view mirror
The optional aluminium gearknob
A Q7 12v socket cover
A plain black passenger sun visor as i've been thinking of ways to try and remove the stickers but i don't want to ruin mine.
A black washer bottle cap

I hope you have enjoyed reading my review and i hope it helps you when speccing your own S1.

Really good write up. Yep, get used to the attention. When you read most of the car mags they say most of the Audi 'S' products look a bit tame and under the radar - but, I have been truly amazed how many people stop and know exactly what it is and ask to either sit in it or take a photo. Was in the new forest yesterday and had some kids taking some pictures. Wouldn't really have thought an Audi would be on most 16' year olds radar.....

Some S3 boys had been investigating getting LHD sunvisors but the cost was quite high (150 Euro's odd) and don't think any one has actually done the mod. People seem to live with it after a few months. You do get used to it.

Regarding your planned mods.....have you thought about upgrading the oil cap and coolant caps? Have a look at this site http://www.psituning.com/section.php/1046/1/engine . Section is for GTI but doesn't matter as all use the same EA888 engine so fits. I've ordered them as they look much better! Washer cap seems to be on Ebay a lot.

I'll try and find you the link but over on the A1 forum (I saw you signed up the other day - don't worry I'm not stalking you!), there is a company that do a lot of VAG upgrades like the exterior mirror. Think the auto hold is a VCDS mod.

You haven't mentioned what's it like to drive???

Thanks mate,

This is my first write up about a car, it took me a little while to include everything (or so i thought).

How does it drive? well having only every owned 8 x Fwd's, 1 x Rwd and now a Quattro albeit haldex. I find it extremely grippy! I'm finding that it eggs you on and makes you drive like a hooligan. I've already been into one corner faster than i would have in any car I've owned before and i planted the accelerator on entry and the whole car seemed to work in harmony just pulling me round the corner. for now the car has alot more talent than i do but thats just a case of practice, practice, practice. (on track)

As for the sun visor i have found one :) at a very reasonable price! I have sent a message asking for a little more detail and some more pictures which I'm hoping to have a reply ASAP so keeping my fingers crossed tightly.

Funny you mention the oil and coolant caps, I have seen that the R8 oil cap will fit will the power steering cap and the coolant cap also fit?

As for the interior mirror I've PM'd @stoke_audi asking how much they can supply a auto dimming one for. I know the auto hold can be added just wondering how.

Yeah that's a good explanation of how these VAG cars grip. I find you will lose your nerve well before the car will lose grip. Love it!

To be honest I didn't even know there was a power steering cap under the bonnet! Will have to investigate later when cleaning! The other caps I linked make the engine bay look so much better. The coolant does fit too yes.

I wasn't aware the dimming mirror was able to be swapped out - guess there needs to be some cabling / VCDS mods to potentially get it to work?

I've just been and checked and there isn't a power steering reservoir in the engine bay? I was just presuming that it would have one. How strange?

Guess the R8 has hydraulic steering while the S1 / S3 is electric steering

A few milestones reached today, firstly 1000 miles

That's crap. I had a few weeks off earlier in the year and after the initial fun of watching boxsets, surfing the net (ahem) and spying on the neighbours all day - I actually wanted to go back to work!

Least you have your S1 to entertain you! You ordered your oil cap yet ? :drag:

I'm used to it now, lay in, tinterwebage, exercise, nip to tescos, watch TV, etc etc somedays i go visit friends/family (only an hour away) or i spend the whole day cleaning the car :) somedays it drives me up the wall but thats what the internet is for :)

no not yet but i ave a little project that i bought parts for the otherday, got a VERY good deal on ebay hehe, just waiting for them to turn up now

Used PSI tuning for years and been impressed, very close to me. In fact had my tuned and dyno'd there.

Hi,
New to this forum (or in fact, any forum) but have a question and have been advised this is the best place to ask.

Bit of background: I've had my S1 3 weeks, washed and waxed it twice (!!) 1300 miles, and absolutely love it! I have never owned a new car before, so double bonus! The car is way more skilled than I am, and I'm amazed how well it sticks to the road, accelerates and corners so quick. Quick spec outline (although I probably forgot some bits...)

Magenta Mica paint from the R8 palet
Black contrast roof
Leather & heated seats
Sat nav with DVD player
BOSE sound system (which lights up round the edge of the speakers at night!)
Cruise control - major bonus to stop too many speeding offences
Electric Folding wing mirrors (these are my question item)
I have also powder coated the wheels black as I couldn't have the Quattro exterior kit because of the Magenta paint? (Wasn't a fan of the big spoiler and writing up the side, but did like the other features)
I have also added window tints to complete the look.
I chose not to have the red brakes and flashes in the lights because I thought it would look odd against pink paint.

I wish I had keyless access - it's a cheap option, I just didn't understand it, and the only car I had seen it on was a BMW 335 which doesn't work the same. Having now seen it on another S1, wish I had it.

My question: I got electric folding mirrors as I thought when I lock the car, they would fold in, then when I unlock it or start the engine, they would unfold. That doesn't happen. If I leave the door switch pointing at the left mirror, when I reverse, it points at the floor, which is great. The only way to fold them in is by putting the door switch to 6 o clock each time you exit the car, and back again half way down the street when you realise they are still tucked in and you can't see!

I asked Audi Coventry, they don't know. I emailed Audi UK customer service, they don't know. There are videos of people pressing their key fob, and their mirrors folding in on A1's on YouTube, and coding details of how to do this with VCDS.

I don't know what any of that means. Even if I did, would the same code work on an S1? If I had the code, would Audi do it for me? If not, where can I go to find someone who would?

Thank you in advance for your patience.

Hey there @MagentaS1

Firstly welcome along to the forum. great looking colour 8) but don't think i would have it personally. good choice on powder coating the wheels, suits the black grill pack and roof line very well!! Have you really done 13,000 miles already? WOW!!!!

Secondly yes the folding mirrors can be coded in via VCDS, they is a member on another forum that has done this already i will PM you a link. To find someone with VCDS you have 2 options really 1: at the very top of the page theres a tab in the red bar with 'VCDS MAP' on it click on it and it will bring up anyone that has VCDS near you who is willing to be on the map. then there are others that dont want to be on the map but have VCDS for those people i can only recommend starting a thread titled something like 'VCDS needed near ??????' (????? = town where you live) Start the thread in this link here: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/forums/vcds-formerly-vag-com-forum.27/

I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you very much, I will look now.

Whoops.... Typo on the mileage - 1300 miles!

Had to get pink to keep the hubby off it ha ha! He has managed to sit in it with me driving, but can't quite bring himself to drive a pink car!!

Love it! The wheels are way nicer than the ones on my S3.... Enjoy :)

I am just doing a Google on the connectivity pack.... is it the same as the one on the S3?
