Well, two years ago last raced, same August meeting but in 2012, but that came to an untimely end when both front hub nuts came undone leading to eventual brake failure and a crash :( (whilst in second place)

The crash video from 2012 below:

The cars been long since repaired and done a handful of Castle Combe track days as a shake down, and alls been well, so I decided to go racing proper again.

The weather however, wasn't what I wanted for my return to racing.. Badgerwagens power and wet conditions not a great mix, particularly for the very rusty driver.. aka ME!

So here's a video of the race.. Just cobbled together to try out a video editor software, which I have'nt registered yet, apologies for their banner which periodically appears mid screen.

The August 25th 2014 Castle Combe Saloon Car race:

Looks good Bill! the conditions looked absolutely horrendous! I saw the video of Tonys drifting antics last night!

Well done on the result too :)

How did you find the E-bay camera? easy enough to use and setup?

Looking forward to seeing how the Badgerwagon fares in more suitable conditions :)

camera was ok.. us "users" were the issue forgetting to turn it off and filling its memory card up starting at the inside of my tent, lol..

I will look to get another so more angles covered for the full experience..
Worked well tho..

conditions were horrible..
I wasn't quick by any means, was quite sedate and alone most of the race. I couldn't keep up with john barnards astra loosing a lot of time out of bobbies.. 0.8bar boost minimum was fine for me for the day.. Trying to explore the track for grip but tentatively.. In those conditions is so easy to lock up, go wide into the no run off that is Combe, and a barrier incident is almost guaranteed. I was happy bimbling around out of trouble, and the end result wasn't because I had done anything special other than keep it on the black stuff. Those in my class ahead encountered issues and retired gifting me the P2 in class.

Hoping for dry next meeting. There's an open race sports vs saloons which I want to also enter..
We can see more what the badgerwagens capable of..

Just out of curiosity what width of rim do you use with your slicks?

mine are 8J*17 rims they're mounted on...old ones mind you.. probably hard as nails now..
My dry wheels are 9J*17 but for combe saloons we have to run on list 1a tyres only..

Nice work bill, I also watched Tonys video last night... Thought I was watching the BDC highlights for a bit!

The answer to this next question may be a bit obvious but; why did the hub nuts come loose on you in 2012? . . It was literally just yesterday I was laughing at the absurd torque sequence autodata was telling me

new bearings and cv's had been fitted some weeks before, and I can only guess we had'nt checked them and retorqued them after first running. Since then when we've checked them they have continued to do up after track sessions, but now have stopped tightening up so I would deem them FT now.. stayed put.

It was a stupid failure which could have easily been prevented if we had checked the hub nuts. Something which has since been added to the check list. Costly omission
