Hi All,

Yesterday was crazy.

I was sitting in my car removing my radio with the window down on the passengers side and my legs hanging out the door.

Started raining so thought id be flashing and hold the remote control lock to raise windows which it did :).

Now as I'm getting up to go for a break I wanted to see how well hidden my tools would be if I left them on the floor, so I closed the door to have a look.

Here's where my problem started.
1. Full car locked, windows up with keys on seat.
2. Spare key for some reason doesn't open car with key or remote function.

Stuffed.

Called insurance who sent out a breakdown company who managed to get a rod down the gap they made between door. He struggled for ages and eventually I tried myself and aimed the rod at the key and managed to open the car!

Now here is my biggest problem.

I tried my normal key in the door lock and it doesn't work either. It's like there's no lock in the whole :(

Cannot programme other key with car as I need to put it in the lock to work :( which isn't there or faulty.

However spare key does run engine which works fine and drives without turning off.

Any ideas?

Are you sure that the spare key doesn't just need a new battery? Surely if it starts the car then it must be programmed correctly.

Replaced the battery still no response. That's what I would have thought as it would have to be read by the car as a coded key :(

If the spare key is already linked to the car you could try this:

Steps to reprogram keys to a car they are already linked to:
1. Press and hold the unlock key on a remote
2. Insert key in ignition and turn to on (while still holding unlock)
3. Hold unlock while in the on position for 2 seconds
4. Turn key to off, remove from ignition and release button.

Tried it just now doesn't work

Sorry, that's me all out of ideas to get the spare key going again.

I think you need to get the door lock fixed before you are going to get anywhere - have you tried just drowning it in WD40, I'm always amazed how many seemingly knackered locks that seems to fix.

The remote probably just needs programming to the car, the door lock issue maybe the rod from the barrel to the lock itself, as if keys go in but turn & do nothing, it has to be this.

Whereabouts are you located?

Hi Nigel, I'm located in Southwest London in Wimbledon but willing to travel a bit if I can get it sorted...

I am going to Greenford in the morning, so its a possibility to have a look, PM me & we'll swap numbers with a view to see what's occurring.
