Avant - the strive for perfection

Garage supplied and fitted but the labour was about £250 but i don't think he would do it again for that price

Going in tomorrow for new shoes..... 4x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's

So yesterday was new wipers and today egr delete pipe.

Looks a lot tidier and hopefully the delete pipe won't weep oil everywhere like the egr valve did.

get rid of the original pipe dude, they work loads better with a new longer pipe in place

Yeah i have been looking at 90degree silicone bends to replace properly. I didn't think about till i was half way through.

This reminds me, I've still got a new 312mm setup to fit to mine yet

Nice work ian. Im happy with my allard egr delete pipe ( identical to yours). Been on for nearly a year now. I had a new 90degree bend when I did mine. It was a cheap one and not oil resistant, so weeped an oily film and didnt look very nice. The oil resistant silicon hoses are far too expensive to bother replacing your normal one.

Going to sound silly now but do you mean the black bit? I want to replace loads of stuff under my bonnet but in all honesty I have no idea which pipes to replace and what with.

Funds permitting i will be replacing all boost hoses with silcone and stainless steel after christmas. Might even go fmic at the same time.

Hahhaha yeh the right angle big bit lol. Looks so much cleaner with a fresh silicone pipe. As for the other vac pipes, yeh i would be getting rid and replacing with more pretty silicone pipes, well 1 or 2. Did mine a while ago. Looks loads cleaner under there now.

It was about £12. Not specifically oil resistant but there shouldn't be that much oil in the air system.

I would say you could have easily got 5 miles out of those rear pads

Let me know how it fairs. Maybe the hose I used was defective.

Keep up the good work....BTW have you replaced the serpentine belt tensioner and alternator pulley? Just wanted to know how much work is involved.

Another step along the road to completion.

Yeah i know about the gap at the top before anyone points it out. Its because its an a6 unit. But I have a plan......

who fitted the RNSE? looks like quite an aggressive install with the marks on the surrounding trim.

Strive for perfection? So why get a A6 rnse, plenty of A4 1's out there! Everyone to the own i suppose.
I was sold an a6 unit as an a4 unit and to be honest once that gap is filled in it will be difficult to notice the difference.

I fitted it but those marks were already there and look far worse in the photo than in person.

Last weekend it was a full service and glow plug change which has sorted out my cold start issue and this weekend a quick wash.

watching with interest, good writeup pal. i have exactly same car, colour too,the best ;)

Hi, on your first page, there's something about a problem with your brakes. Can I ask what the issue was please?

Hi nostromo. For me it turned to be a faulty break pedal switch. But there are a few things it could be. What symptoms are you getting?

Hi Ian, thanks for the reply. I'm getting the (!) brake message on the screen between the Rev counter and speedo. Only happens when turning right, normally a sharp right on a roundabout. Brake fluid appears to be at a good level but haven't tried giving the float a poke yet. Anything you can suggest?
