For such a small price compared to other extras is it worth it? I see loads of people have it so i assume so?? Reading online it says "activated by push button" does that mean if i press it once its auto on whenever i am on a hill? or does it mean i have to push it every time before stopping on the hill.

Question about parking sensors - originally i was going to just have the rear sensors but after reading online about the front and rear sensors it says

"Acoustic and visual parking aid for the front and rear which displays white distance markers for obstacles that would not be touched and red symbols for obstacles that may be touched. This provides the driver with a selective optical view in the MMI display of all the objects recognised, depending on the current curve radius and direction of travel."

Basically - what do you see on the screen if you have just the rear, nothing? Has anybody got a photo of the screen with the front and rear on?

Push button turns hold assist on or off. I pushed it once when I collected the car and have pretty much not touched it since (it remembers the setting when you turn off the car). It's all automatic once switched on, and well worth it IMO.

For parking sensors... I think you can activate the display if you have rear only, but by default I don't think you get anything.

Correct, nothing. It can be hacked with VCDS to show a picture (I have done mine, so know it works).

Hold assist: yes, worth it. Not touched the handbrake since I bought the car.

If driving a S-tronic, I prefer not using the hold assist.

I can then vary brake pressure to determine clutch bite points in readiness for traffic light Grand Prix, and also regulate if/when I want Start Stop to activate.

There are also (frequently) times when I don't want it to apply the foot brake, or parking brake for me automatically, for example, after a high speed run I want to sit and idle on level ground with the DSG Park Pawl engaged, but not have hot brake pads clamped against a relatively hot disc.

For me Hold Assist is not a good option.

Don't forget to switch it off if you ever enter a conveyor style automatic car wash either .....

If you could only see the damage those things do to your paint ... :(

How to wreck a £40k car in about 5 mins :keule:

Its like all the hand car washes springing up. Only found out recently they use brick acid to clean the wheels & particularly stubborn bodywork marks. I suppose thats a whole new thread lol

PS For me hill hold is a must. Had it for 5 1/2 years on my current Audi A4 and wouldn't be without it TBH
I've gone for the comfort pack with parking system plus (front & rear sensors). Best VFM all round IMO :thumbs up:

Yes but if you are, like me, unable to stand or bend down to clean a car you would have little option but to use a car wash. I have used the same 'conveyor' type car wash for some time and have not had any problems. It was the only way my previous A3 was washed and when I traded it in the dealer commented on how good the car looked. I would much rather use a car wash than drive around in a dirty car.

Also I have the optional Hold Assist on my current A3 and I leave it switched OFF all the time. I have an s-tronic and prefer to have the ability for the car to 'creep' when I want it to. For example when going in and out of my garage. If I want to hold the car still I just use the parking brake. No real hardship to just click a switch. I wouldn't the option on any future A3.
