Hi guys, my renewal has just come up and i dont understand insurance companys? Lol

Last year my insurance was £306 for the year with 4 years no claims, now with 5 years no claims they want £416 to renew? But if i go online and do it as a new customer its only £326!!

Are insurance companys taking the p**s or something? How do they work it all out?

They always try it on and give better deals to attract new customers and poorer deals to get as much profit from existing customers. That's why it is best to hunt around every year for the best deal.

I agree, shop around for the best deal and play them off against each other.

If you want to stick with them then just phone them up and they normally come down quite a bit, they just send out these quotes as standard as probably around 50% of people just pay it.

Seriously try all four of the site traders, chris knott, sky, prestige car ins and adrian flux. Ive rung them all today and got my cheapest quote yet! If you phone chris knott ask for a lady call cathy she helped me out today and she understood my car and situation!

You could also try going through Topcashback. Most of the time you can get money off insurance, albeit by delayed payback, but any saving is a good saving. Also you can use the quoted figures ( taking into account the pay-back ) as further leverage when phoning insurance companies.
Good luck.

I used Sky Insurance (details on the forums under insurance section) for my S3 and I was massively impressed - really good service

It's funny hey as they couldn't get my quote below £1000 where as chris knoxx was £300?

I have 2 years NCB and the mods listed below and i'm insured for 800 with Sky.

Sometimes some brokers will have exclusivity with a certain insurer - sounds like you got a good deal anyway!
Sky got mine down from £900 to £500.
I think the moral of the story is to always shop around!

most certainly! may i say thought this is the first time i have ever not used online searches (compare the market etc etc) and im impressed already.

Sky insurance have beaten or matched much lower prices every year for me, so I stay

The premiums are calculated differently at renewal, you always get a better discount for a new business quote. However if you remove the renewal authority when you set up the policy then when the renewal is due the rates are calculated differently as they assume your not staying so they are cheaper than the automatic renewal prices. Always shop around though
