Hi all,

I recently purchased an Audi A4 B8 2008 1.8 tfsi with 72k, I instantly had issues with the clutch, the clutch pedal operation would be notchy/creaky and would engage and release in stages rather then a smooth motion.

The garage I bought the car from recommended a new clutch and flywheel under there warranty scheme for used cars they offered, I agreed and they completed the work.

Since I've had the car back the clutch is very stiff to operate and after a few days started to creak and wasn't smooth to operate again, I returned the car and they said there might be some air in the system so would bleed it, I took the car again today and the clutch was fine for approx 3 hours, now it's gone back to the same usual nonsense.

Please can someone help, it's driving me insane now and I honestly think the garage I purchased the car from don't have a clue what the issue is.

Thank you,

Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt.
Did you get/see the old clutch & fly wheel that they replaced, I ask because it sounds to me that they have just farted about with it and told you they replaced it. Very strange you are getting the same issues with a new clutch & fly wheel, I have heard they are a bit stiff to start with, but notchy/creeky???

or they haven't found the proper fault

id take it to audi or a audi indi to find the fault and then take it back to the garage you bought it from

or get them to send it into audi.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes the pedal goes down in stages, it's so notchy, it's not normal...

I saw the new parts the flywheel and the clutch but never saw the old parts.

I've just returned about 15 minutes ago from the garage and there attitude is 'come back when the car breaks down and your covered under the 12 months warranty for the clutch' they won't even acknowledge the pedal problem even though they have admitted they can feel the problem.

I think I may have to pursue this through the finance company as it's HP because the garage seem to have wiped there hands clean of the car at this stage.

it could be the peddle itself
