I missed that bit so you have took the back box out and just gone straight through
 
Yeah mate. Mid box is still on though, straight through from the tips to the midbox

If I removed the midbox then there would be a drastic change in the sound of the car
 
Have you got any videos of it with the back box removed how much did it cost to have it done
 
I don't have any videos because the sound wasn't that noticable, although If you stick your ear down to the tips when the car is idling, it sounds like a jet plane lol tbh I only went to get the tips on but they said they would have more room to adjust the positioning of the tips if the back box was removed so I agreed. It cost 130
 
Fair enough may look into this i want a full S/S quad exhaust but its like 450 from MIJ
 
Same as mine. Like I said, I didn't want to really change the sound of the car, I mean it's a 4pot diesel so it's not going to sound like an M3 or the likes but if you're looking to drastically change the sound then get the mid box taken out as well as the back box. There's a slight chance it could poow as well lol
 
I may take back box out first see what she sounds like then what have you done to yours engine/exhaust wise

I am planning
cold air intake
DPF delete
Some sort of exhaust back box or cat back i dont know and map

Tuning companys i have spoke said should easily achieve 200bhp wouls have to uprate the clutch but
 
You're never really going to make a diesel sound that sporty although I haven't heard an Audi 3.0tdi but I'd imagine this would be a 6pot same as the BMW 3.0d, they sound pretty cool on full chat.

I'm considering getting mine mapped for a bit more over taking power, I heard the 143 goes to about 188 safely, I certainly wouldnt push it anymore than that.

If you're wanting serious power you would look into getting a hybrid turbo but that is serious money too, would be cheaper selling up and buying a 2.7/3.0tdi
 
To be honest what i was thinking maybe just forget it all wait a few years and get the 3.0TDI or an S4 which is probably the better option as you said never going to make the 2.0 TDI sound sporty but hey ho anyway looking the car mate keep up the good work

Thanks man, if you want my advice, map it safely, enjoy it for what it is, a reasonably powerful comfy motorway cruiser.

I feel the 143bhp is underpowered for the weight of the car and especially bad if you have heavy 19s like me, so I'd say I'll probably be getting mine done.

I don't know your circumstances but if you're like me then save for a couple of years and buy a much more powerful variant
 
Ye i agree the 143 just isnt enough having had around 180 in the car or around that from a tuning chip it transforms the car how is should of came from the factory but o well and ye i think my plan is to do exactly as you said save up get a more powerful one i just like messing about thats my problem
 
I'm much the same bud, I like messing with my cars too but there's only so much you can do with a diesel. I could have had a much more powerful car for a lot less money but I wanted a B8 and this was the model and engine in my budget. I'm 25 now but think I've grown out of loud cars, I'm settled with a decent corporate job so I wanted a car that is comfy for doing a lot of miles and one that I wouldn't be embarrassed meeting important clients in.

Where did you get your tuning chip and how much was it if you don't mind me asking?
 
Stage 1 Revo Remap would be a good job for 2.0TDI 143BHP engine or a DTUK tuning box! ;)

You can get the 3.0 TDI to sound quite good, certainly nothing like what you would expect from a diesel.
Main thing to do is get rid of the DPF, This does more silencing than the exhaust system.

I'd a performance rear box on the E92 and it just lowered the sound to a nice rumble like you say. I could easily have driven the car without tho, as most of the silencing was done by the turbo...
I'm looking at DTUK for mine in a few months, I'd a Saab 9-3 1.9 TiD a few years back with the Hirsh remap and it ate front tyres, but was a hoot at the time.

Thanks Steve, yeah I mean it's a very subtle sound, which is what I'd prefer now.

I know what you mean about the Saabs, I had an 09 9-3 aero with 2 turbos before the Audi and it was great fun.

Personally I'd rather have a remap as it changes and adjusts the ECU, whereas a tuning box just overfuels and tricks the ECU

Just been looking through your thread and saw your original number plate beforr yiu put your private on....I think I saw it in a little town called Coleford? In the forest of Dean a few months back with those wheels....am I correct? ?
 
I don't know bud, the private dealer brought the car over from England and put those wheels on it over here, so it may have been another car you seen with those wheels
 
Just been reading thru the thread, love the car. You've done a great job.
Really like the spoiler.
I have a 3.0 TDI s-line which has the built in spoiler on the boot. Did yours have this and then you added the Rieger one on top?

Thanks mate, no it's just a standard a4 so I don't think there was a spoiler built into the boot
 
New wider mudflaps at the back as the standard ones were too narrow for the wheels

These where a nightmare to fit but really pleased with them

Mud flaps look good.
I've been tying to find some but hardly any are suitable for the s line which has the lower side skirt. :-(
May just have to find universal flaat ones which aren't moulded.

Cheers lads, What I had to do was to cut the bracket of the old oem mudflaps and screw it back into the car then screw the new mudflaps to it. There was no way to fit them otherwise due to the shape of the inner guard
 
Hi Brennan have you seem the latest deal from Trups on here? He is offering projectors for retrofitting onto our cars for £49 posted.....the guide I've seen looks easy will be getting some before he sells out!

Wow are you serious,?? This is exactly what I have been looking!! Who would I get to fit them though ?

I couldn't do it myself, I would need to get him to do it but how would it look, would it look awful or would it look factoryish?
 
Ok guys watch this space, I'm looking for fit these projector lenses to my halogen lights, which hopefully should give the car a xenon look to it

I think the projector needs to be bigger though

Because they are fine until MOT, they only take factory xenon bulbs, it would be an MOT failure for me and a serious waste of money if they make the car unroadworthy
