ok, Have been PM'd about this too, so I hope that this will be a useful thread!
I have a 2004 A4, with the double-din Symphony stereo, with the 6-CD changer built in to the unit in the dash.
I wanted to be able to put any MP3 source into this directly, NOT via a nasty FM modulator etc (have tried those, very unimpressed) .
Have received lots of conflicting advice, and links to German ebay sellers, who tell me it wont work anyway!
caraudiocentre.co.uk were also categoric that it could not be done, as according to them the symphony has no facility to connect external CD changer or any other input.. (I shall reply to their mail later!)
However - www.incarexpress.co.uk were very helpful - up to the point of emailing me a photo of the Symphony stereo, to make sure that it really was the right unit being discussed...
They sold me this: http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=AUD01AUX and it arrived today.
I had previously picked up a set of 4 stereo removal keys, so tonight I whipped out the stereo, and did a quick 'proof of concept' before attempting a proper install which I will do at the weekend..
..and it works perfectly! press the CD button on the symphony once, you get the normal built in changer.. press it again, you get the aux in..
No it isnt integrated witht the symphony controls (like the dension ice link is for an ipod) but I wanted to be able to use my existing archos AV380, as well as my sons being able to connect their respective Ipod and Creative players when they are in the car..
Sound quality was absolutely fine, its very easy, and just what the doc ordered.
If anyone is interested I will take pics when I do the full install at the weekend..
Ben
