Hi Brennan.

Go with an Iris shroud, have a look at the link to what the b7 owners did a while back at the bottom of the add.

You could get them ones in chrome, then spray your old reflector black so it cant be seen, that should be good and look OE with the Iris.

These are 2.5 inch projectors, getting a 3inch projector wont make any difference to the size of the surrounds, the iris is a fairly large surround, I stock a hell of a load of them as they are the best looking ones.

this is a T5 Van I did -

This is the output off an E46 BMW I did -

its perfect, no glare above the cutoff leaving maximum light output on the floor where you need the light, for a stage 1 kit at this money you can go wrong, you will be able to use the ballast you have but you will need new bulbs which will be H1

lol would be expensive to come over mate only way I could see is to send you the lights

Hi.

I see lol, yes you can send them, but you wont have a car for a few days, cheapest way to send is my herms which would be less than £20 for both but they take a few days to get here. you not want to attempt yourself? its not that hard at all, I think fitting the DRL LED's is harder.

Andy Yam has confirmed that the lens will come away easy as it uses soft sealant, he will sort his this weekend so may want to wait till next week before you decide?

trups

Yeah I'll wait and see Andys. What I proposed was to maybe try and find another set of headlights and get you to do those. I don't even know what I would use to heat up the headlights to soften the glue and what I glue I would use to seal them again.

I would like as close to the S-Line projector as possible so the shroud may have to be black.

PM me a price bud :)

HI David,

£59 for the Projectors and Iris Shrouds.
HID kit is £50 for a canbus H1 kit - I have 6000k and 5000k (id go with 6000k, pure white)

Delivery is included in the price of the projectors so £109 total.

trups

if you post me the lights its £50, this service will include, taking headlights apart, glue on the shrouds to hold them in place and adding extra sealant if required, new sealant will not be required if you don't get any dust or dirt in the channels, I usually split the lights and then put blue masking tape over them to prevent this.

If you want any spray work done we would need to discuss what needs doing.

I use a heat gun to open the lights, Get a big box, cut a hole in the side and make it into an oven :)

Trups

Would need your best judgement on this mate.

Firstly would want the reflector sprayed black so it cannot be seen, would you recommend chrome or black shrouds? I know on the B8 xenon lights the casing is black with just a chrome edging around the projector itself.

Which do you think would look better?

Was just looking at these lights, the reflector on the B8 A4 looks quite squashed in shape, almost like an oblong shape, it's definitely not round, are you sure the Iris shroud would fit?

Iris will fit in there, if you look up the thread at the VW van that's fitted with iris shrouds you can see how far the top of the shroud is from the projector, Andy is getting sent the iris so he will see but I am confident it will be.

if you just need the rear reflector sprayed then just the price of a rattle can will be fine to hid the old reflector.

I think going with the iris chrome will look good, the iris do come in gloss black but its all black if you wanted the murdered out look. if the shroud needs trimming it can be done so its flush to the headlight its self.

Trups

All sounds good mate. Does it say BIXENON on the shrouds you have?

Also when you spray the parts in the headlight, do you primer, paint and lacquer?

Also how does the bi-xenon shutter work on these? What does it plug into to work, the only plug on my headlights that I have seen is where the hid spade connectors plug into

Hi.

I don't use primer on the old reflectors, as you wont see them so just a good layer of paint, if you wanted other parts that you see sprayed then the whole hogg is used.

The bi xenon sticker is an extra, that T5 van that was done was for Syco Graphics so he knocks the stickers up, I can get them for a couple of quid.

The Bi xenon shutter gets its power from your full beam plus and minus so when the xenons are off the shutter will still operate when flash people to go by, when the xenons are on both the original high beam and the xenon will be full beam so you have double the brightness at night on a country road.

trups

I was just worrying incase some of the paint would come off as the heat from the bulbs builds up inside the headlight.

So where does the wire from the projector connect to, to give the power to the shutter? Forgive me I'm a bit if a novice on this.

When fitting hids I only noticed one connector in the headlight which is the one the spades connect to.

Would like a sticker on them, not sure if 'AUDI XENON' or 'BIXENON' would look better

How much are your h1 hid bulbs and how long would it take for you to do the whole lot?

HID bulbs are £15 for the pair. The heat from it will help stick it down better but it wont just come off the reflector due to the heat so don't worry about that part.

The connector for the high beam is what you would attach the Wire for the bi xenon shutter to, I always solder this as its wont ever come away, if you look in my picture you can see the wires coming out the bottom of the projector.
