Lëon OEM+

So I went out for a shoot with Nick, with his track A3 to do a feature for a website I run called Deutsch Erbaut, featuring all the best VAG cars

So things have been really quiet on the modifying front

fitted my mates tuning company sticker today

and finally got round to removing the mess of a number plate, and fitting a square plate (looking much tidier)

However tomorrow night its going off to my mates garage (cnctuning) to get the full LCR front end setup done, to give much better handling, excited much

So it's been a while since any updates have happened.....weather hasn't helped really

This arrived.....going to be a lot of hate for this. Rear spoiler, not pretty but it's functional

Few stickers arrived

Coil pack wiring cover fitted also (yes I know I am missing a few bolts for the bolt down coil packs lol)

Few things arriving this week. Magmashield has just arrived, so I can finish off wrapping the intake pipe. Hopefully I can fill the old spoiler holes this weekend in preparation for the big gay wing to be fitted

Also the second bucket seat arrived, so I am going to be drilling out the old passenger seat rails, which is a pig to do, so Nick can fit the passenger seat at some point.

Bonus time soon at work, so fingers crossed it's enough for a roll cage

Also a new climate control fasica arrived, as my old one the liquid in the LCD is leaking across the screen to the point I can't see any of the controls or heater on etc

So finally with the dry and sunny weather today, I got a few bits done

Finished off the magmashield on the intake

This was the climate control, totally fecked

Replaced

I am aware of the sh*te wrapping done some years ago, this is getting hyrdo dipped in matt black

BGW (big gay wing) trial fitting

This was fitted, but only the mounts, as bolts weren't long enough to finish it off, so ordered some more today.

i was looking a heat reflective tape for my CAI, what's the magma shield like for wrapping easy enough to do?
definite improvement for heat soak in the engine bay?

**** easy to do, its self adhesive and just sticks on

have I measured before and after intake temps....no, but #becauseracecar lol

So managed to get a drive by of the car, and absolutely LOVING the sound. First time I have heard it outside the car....sexual :D

Also got some fresh pics of the car, all be it a bit dirty

Loving the big gay spoiler LOL! (genuinely am)

so the project is still alive....just

updates

Finally removed all the crap nankangs (from the previous owner) and fitted with Federal RSR's....awesome wheel and handling is just awesome.

The gave her a clean as there was moss growing on her:

One issue I have is with my feet sliding about on the floor due to there being no carpet, so ordered some rather loud grip tape:

Then it was time to get my other seat fitted. Sadly we ran out of time, but 95% of the welding is all done, just got to drill the seat rails and fit, job done.

Mine with my mates mental stripped and caged Audi A3. Went out for a spin in it the first time, OMG, scary stuff!

Ordered some cable conduits to tidy up all the wiring, so it's not on show, then will be spraying up the floor and fitting the grip tape. It's first track day is next month so trying to get lots of little bits done for her in time

Went to AMD Essex a few months back for the Comrades of VAG rolling road day

it made 291bhp at R-Tech, so with the dyno lottery, running 285bhp it's still bang on the money

Graph as well. Nice and smooth and good span of power over the rev range

I went to Bromley car show down in Kent. Epic day, stunning array of cars, but I was really unhappy with mine. It looked scruffy, out of place (which isn't a bad thing), but the "look" of the car has never sat right, so it was time for a cosmetic change

before and after, one side done. I haven't sprayed the other side yet as it still needs to be finished off welding, so I cant spray it until this has been done

Sprayed the wheel well, as it was half white, which looked scruffy

Next up to drill the other seat mounts in the passenger side, trial fit the new passenger seat, spray the passenger side floor.

the old bumpers are going and I am fitting a set of front and rear facelift bumpers, LCR mirrors to tidy her up with a much cleaner look

trial fit

Car is now SORN though as the MOT expired.

next things up are replacing all the subframe bolts which I am getting today from Seat as there is a clunking sound from the front nearside, which I think are the bolts which have stretched (refitted old ones a few times which you shouldn't do)

new arch lines for front and rear bumpers as the bumpers extend down lower than the pre facelift ones. New rear bumper valance, again to fit the new wider bumper rear bumper

then onto a new Sytec fuel pump, new fuel filter, oil change and replace the ABS module as I am certain this is causing ABS issues now

Rear bumper now secured...front one trial fitted bit need the proper fixings to secure it

Cool build thread didnt realise you had one. Car looks much better with the recent bodywork changes!!

Thanks mate, yes it's looking loads cleaner, so I much prefer this look.

Ordered all new sub frame bolts for delivery on Monday, so get these fitted soon, few fuel pump, fuel filter, then MOT and it will be ready for VW action end of this month

Good build Jamie, its nice to look at a build that I'm doing at the mo but with my odd wires everywhere over the car that's not going to get used is getting ripped out,Doors are totally getting gutted and plastic windows

Thanks

I'm terrible with electrics, so I will tend to tuck wiring where I can rather than cut it.

doom day looms, MOT next Monday and I need to get the bumpers on and secure.

Picked up 4 2nd hand arch liners and rear bumper valance for £40, when Seat wanted £40 just for ONE arch liner!

Once MOT is done then its:

Oil change
oil filter
sump off, oil pick up pipe replaced
fuel filter
replace all subframe bolts
replace dodgy bolt in nearside engine mount
remove old SMIC bracket

got all the bolts and everything now, just need to get them all fitted

So last night I started on the car, and well....didn't achieve much at all, as light faded quickly

collection of new bits

front bumper in position...again!

fitted new sliders:

however there was a problem, it just wouldn't mount up correctly....after trying to work out what it was fouling on with light fading quickly, it was the FMIC pipework

fog light surrounds were what was hitting it

however at this point and after dinner and fiddling about with other bits it was 10pm, and I couldn't exactly break out the electric saw at this time of night, so it's going to have to wait until Sunday. pressure is on now though as I had presumed to get a chunk of work done last night, as my MOT is on Monday....feck!

so weekend was interesting, got very drunk Sat night, and I had the hangover from hell on Sunday, but knowing my MOT was on Monday I had to press on with the car

it took me 4 hours to put two bumpers on

Monday morning arrived, after taking ages to get the car started with a flat battery, car went for its MOT, failed on rear brake light, number plate bulb, rear offside wheel bearing and front nearside track rod end, missing front number plate and the pedal grip on the brake pedal
popped over to my mates garage across the estate, got dirty, ordered the wrong track rod end as I forgot I have an LCR front end setup, DOH! replaced all the other bits...and hashed up a grip bit on the brake pedal from some double sticky sided tape and sand paper

retested and bingo, all done!

now its onto the oil change, tracking etc in time for VW action, get a new number plate ordered up and tidy up the mess in the car still

so the show prep continues for the car...

ordered these for the 1/4 mile and up coming track days

Refitted my 100mm cold air feed

then remounted my fire extinguisher

Fortunately there was a bracket next to the handbrake which was a perfect fit....almost

got some large washers, but didn't fit, so cut them down as noted by the pen line

One problem was the bracket would not fit quite right because part of the handbrake mounting got in the way, so I angle grinded the corner off. You can see the corner of it fouling the end of the bracket in this picture

after fiddling about, got it done. Quite tight, but fits nicely and clears the base of the handbrake by a few mm which is good

nice and easy to access also

The project is going well, went out for a drive last night.

That is all
