S3 Sb Detail Now Or Later?

I hate DA polishing so try and avoid it. Have better stuff to be doing all weekend. Spend more time cleaning then driving it sometimes :faint:

Tell me about it ... :help::laugh:

I am in the both camp.

Sealant (Menzerna Power Lock) first (after IPA wipedown) - which achieves a bond with the lacquer (much better than a wax bond) to give longevity of protection, plus the "wet look" glossy finish.....

.... then wax (Collinite 476) on top - for yet more protection, and depth of shine which only Carnauba wax gives, in addition to the gloss.

Horses for courses.

I wouldn't use a wax (glaze) and a sealant. I'm not convinced about sealants. Like Pulp I don't like doing any polishing so take real care about washing so as not to get any swirls. I've tried a few waxes but keep coming back to Zymol Glasur.

I've worked out so far I've spent more than twice the time cleaning it than driving it...........Oh, sad.

Like many on DetailingWorld, I've tried both separately, and combined, and the results are good.

Embrace technology. Sealant technology is way ahead now, especially for longevity (which is what I'm after primarily).

Gone over completely to sealants lately, however just bought a jar of Migliore Frutta Carnauba Wax to have a play and see whether its going on the 'new arrival' ;)

Think everyone is a bit lazy and has a stage that they miss.

Any particular reason why you hate it?

I find some non abrasives polishes to be excellent at enhancing the colour with doing any cutting.

Oh dear, that's shocking! Get out and drive it then man!

Take it you don't do many miles then?

That's that it's all about, trying out and finding products you like and work well with.

I was a big fan of megs 3 step, but there are much better products around on the market.

To do it properly it's an all day job (if not two days) and it can be a bit of a tiresome task requiring a lot of concentration. Rush it and you pay for it......I have learnt the hard way. Having a strong wash routine etc will ensure you will only need to correct the paint once every 18 months to remove very light swirls that are just inevitable however careful you are.

Deffo wait for the correction till next year bud
As mentioned before prewash, decomtaminate, clay bar or mitt(personally I find the latter easier and quicker using only soap), apply cleanser ie prima amigo or all in one cleanser/filler/polish auto finesse Tripple to hide imperfections.
Then 2-3 coats of collinite 476s.
Wax aids hiding imperfections as well.
Top up with a quik detailer every wash

The megs step one I liked very much, wasn't too keen on 2 + 3

So you were a fan of the paint clean step then? I've still got a unopened bottle and I noticed the other day that they are stopping selling it apparently.

Step 2 and 3 I think are hard work, went back to SRP - what a difference.

Yes mate it's what I first used for my first Audi A3.
I didn't find step 2 too bad but step 3 I didn't like.
Still got mine in the shed as well.
To be fair the 3 step has had its day now but cracking value for money.
I bought mine from halfords 3 for 2.

I only polish if I need to remove swirls, if the paint's in good condition I glaze with Prima Amigo and wax with Collinite 476. The Prima Amigo really adds to the finish and is also a pre-wax/paint cleanser.

Tempted to try Fusso Dark as the LSP instead of 476, which is apparently compatible with Prima. It's technically a sealant and will give 12 months protection. Normally sealants need to go on bare paint, so they bond properly but Fusso seems to buck the trend.

What did you think to step 1 then? I'm unsure on whenever to use it really in between claying and polishing / correctional polishing.

It's a difficult product to gauge results for, as removing swirls - useless, but paint cleaning harder to measure lol.

I used step one after I had clayed, found it to good and put step 2 on that.
I'm sure step 2 is megs answer to AG SRP.
I didn't really know anything about detailing then but now it seems kinda pointless doing a 3 step when 2 would suffice :)
One thing is that now iv used the werkstat range, prime is step 1 and u can really see the paint shine and the microfibre pad is dirty.
It's been that long that iv used the megs step 1 I can't compare.
Saying that the mate brought his black Beemer round a few weeks ago as his youngest had his hands up his exhaust and put soot all offer the bonnet and boot lol.
The megs step 1 took it off instantly

Nice, I'd go mental if someone put soot all over my car, having it on the exhaust is bad enough.

Yes SRP is classed as a cleaning and finishing polish just like Megs ultimate polish ( designed for use after ultimate compound ) is.

Step 3 on the megs is the wax, you'll need some form of LSP
