Picked up my S3 this morning + Build Thread

If you guys want prices shoot Nige a PM and I'm sure he will take care of you, there are varying degrees of the system, powervalve and normal so it all depends what you are looking for;

You know you want the powervalve though ;)

The BCS exhaust looks good, have you got some more pictures on the car?

Any pic you are particularly looking for, these are all the underside pics I have but I can grab a rear or side shot if thats what you are looking for?

Its just a shame I dont have a car lift or ramp in the garage so I can admire all the shiney underside goodness lol.

that exhaust looks great! I've got a miltek and I've never liked the sound of it, I had the resonator fitted to quieten it down, so as it stands is a little louder than stock, fancy making us a vid of the sound if your system?? ;-)

Why have you linked a monkey drinking its pee?

That's what I'm after, and also one looking down at the exhaust to see how it sits with the rear valance.

I would love to but need something like a gopro to do that just to capture the powervalve noise, although there are a few youtube vids which the guys have done, one is below;

lolwut

As requested :)

The exhaust follows the shape of the car almost perfectly, this was something that was high on the agenda for them when they fitted it.

Didn't take you long deano. When do you think you'll go stage 2+?

Soon!! :) :) :)

Managed to get some better pics the guys at BCS took when fitting the exhaust so thought I would throw them on here too as mine were just with my phone

They may be ever so slightly better quality than mine :lmfao:

Are these the Porsche caps?

I really want these. how much did they set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

Yes they are porsche caps, got them together off eBay, can't remember the seller's name but they were actually from awesome. I think they were £55 delivered

Next mods were a toss up between a few retro fits or go Revo 2+.

It was an easy decision to make as the person I asked for retro fit quotes never came back to me so 2+ it is :)

Fuel pump, TTS cover, catch can and H&R Springs all ordered, just waiting for the catch can to arrive and then its time to get it booked in for fitting and 2+ loaded on!

That's the way to go!

Don't worry about retrofits, just get the fun factor increased!

Wow, our cars could be related! Mine is a 2011 SB S3 BE, and I just had the BCS exhaust fitted - booked in for Shark Stg 3 next week!

Rolling on 20's though....:arco:

Well 2+ is now done, along with a catch can and a set of H&R springs to stop the marshmallow feel of the car on stock suspension and also to look a bit better too!

Havent had a chance to try it out properly yet but the low down and mid range grunt feels much improved! :)

For some strange reason my car just didnt want to put out 'normal' figures on the dyno so no print outs - unsure if this is something to do with the DSG or something else to be honest. Stage 1 was ok on the dyno but 2+ things started going weird.

Next on the (what seems like a never ending) list to do is a DSG map, going to get in touch with Revo to see how far they are along with the map for 2011 DSGs, hopefully it isnt too far away.

Thanks again to the guys at Midland VW who battled with the car for some time to get the settings where they needed to be.

Really liking that BCS exhaust! You should consider uprated anti roll bars next mate, makes a massive difference to handling around corners.

There are often problems getting Haldex equipped cars to run properly on a dyno, and it may simply be that.

If it runs good on the real road, thats the important bit.

They are on my list, along with

FMIC
decat (maybe)
DSG map
water meth (maybe)

team dynamics light weight alloys & michelin supersport
big brakes

seems a lot when i type it out

It did some strange stuff on the rollers, torque was limited to about 300lb/ft, which makes me think the 2+ map may not be doing something right with the DSG box as the torque limiter is still in place, or may be it is something to do with haldex.

Anyone else on here got a late model DSG S3 and running some sort of 2+ software?

God damn - same car as me (practically) and you've done everything I want to do to mine.

You're killing me over here!!

You and me both! Although the Revo intake, GFB DV+, TTS cover and stage 1 remap are going on mine in just under a week :)

I have a 2010 with DSG and a 2+ R-Tech map and the DSG has been mapped too.
Was your run in 4WD or did they disconnect the haldex?

Get it done its great :D

Slippery slope though my friend....

Cancel the order for the TTS cover if you are getting a catch can, as you will need to mod (cut) the cover to fit, which obviously can be done but if you are doing that you may as well just cut the standard cover.

Ooooh... tell me more - did the DSG map liven up 'M' mode? I think my car wants to do more but it does feel like the gearbox kind of governs it.

The car was run on the dyno with the haldex disconnected.

Just looked at your sig and those figures look awesome - I take it the map on yours is a custom one?

The DSG map I have is from R-Tech along with my custom engine map.
The DSG map I have has the following alterations:
Torque limiter lifted to 550nm
25% quicker shifts
Sport mode rev limiter lifted and alterations so it doesn't hold gears too long when your not at full throttle but still responds quick wen u need it too.
Launch control set to hold different revs depending on how far you press the accelerator and will launch up to 3900rpm now!

Well worth speaking to R-Tech, will compliment your map so well!

Just got back from Revo HQ, the guys there offered to take a look at my car as it didnt seem to put the power out that it should be on 2+.

Fresh map uploaded and I could definitely tell the difference - much more like I was expecting from other peoples take on 2+!

Very happy now thanks to the guys at Revo HQ, quality after sales support

Been some time since my last update, all is still well with 2+ :) :)

A couple of things have been done though, ordered some pressed metal plates from dubmeister - really help to set off the car I think and no blatant dealer advertising, good times :)

Also, the opportunity came up for Revo to use my S3 as a development car for the later years S-Tronic remap so been able to have a play with that over the past week or so.

Drive has been woken up a LOT with better control, shifts are smoother and it feels more responsive.
Manual feels like its more active too, used to hesitate a little when wanting to boot it from standstill and also when jumping down gears (maybe something to do with the torque limiter??) and this has gone now.
Sport I havent really managed to play with yet to be fair.

The gearbox remap certainly accompanies stage 2+ well.

While Revo had my car they loaned me their stage 3 scirocco which had the stasis big brake kit;
Revo. STaSIS Brake Kit 355mm Disc with 4 Piston Calipers

All I can say is, WANT! Those brakes were awesome - if there was one thing I missed when going back to my S3 it was those brakes, need to look at getting some better stoppers soon, which will mean new wheels too, bah.

It was also insurance renewal time - ended up with a quote for £660 with Adrian Flux, obviously all mods declared, which was a hell of a lot cheaper than I was expecting so thanks to those guys too.

If I remember the Stasis kit uses Alcon rotors and whilst it's not cheap it's good.

better brakes really take the car to the new level.

Haven't updated this for a while but had a couple of things done.

Eurojet FMIC fitted, made a massive difference. The car no longer bogs down after a few hard runs.

Then had some TD Pro Race 1.2s fitted with Michelin Pilot Supersport rubber - these tyres are great!

Finally I went to see Rick from Unicorn yesterday and talked about getting a custom map done, for both the engine and dsg - along with water meth too. I just need to sort the time off work to get the car booked in at Unicorn - Rick is an extremely knowledgable guy.

Well, you gave me the kick up the backside I needed to get the car washed!

On with the pics, not great quality as done with my phone and a bit of a rush before it rained!

Ahh ibis white, I see why you needed a kick to wash it!

Looks nice, I've always liked pro race 1.2's.

Gives it a bit of a sporty race look, I like!

Any excuse for a pic Alex :p

Is that the new Michelin tyres, they look pretty soft/sticky?

Absolutely.

That's a plug for not only the 1.2's,but also Michelin Supersports, which I think are superb, and I can see Dean does too.
