Morning all

I was hoping someone on here may have experience in the offset and bolt pattern you can fit to a '99 S3.

My slightly buckled front nearside wheel recently became my very buckled front nearside wheel, and caused a blow out (of a nearly brand new Conti - cheers!).

So I need a new wheel, and the car is running on 8Jx18 (B5 RS4 style) nine spokes, with offset ET30 and bolt pattern 5x100 - which I'm assuming was a standard offering at the time.

I've been offered a never-used wheel for good money, but it's for an 8P, so has an offset of ET33 and bolt pattern 5x112.

Does anyone know if this would make a huge difference when added to the three slightly different wheels, please?

Thanks a lot!

Well it wouldn't fit. Because it's a 5x112 bolt pattern.

Put simply, don't do it...

The wheel is different and its not going to be safe... you will need a hub adaptor to fit it which will be a minimum of 20mm giving you an effective ET of 13

OE RSTT wheels for the S3 were an option... they are 8x18 ET33 (not 30)

Thanks for the help.

And for those of you whose sides have split, once your laughter subsides you could explain what the 5x100 / 5x112 bit means?

I'm not familiar - although I reckon I can work the '5' bit out...

its the bolt pattern

5 x 100 means 5 bolts equally spaced about the circumference of a circle whose diameter is 100mm
5 x 112 means the bolt circle diameter is 112mm

you wont be able to bolt a 5x112 wheel onto a hub designed for a 5x100 wheel without an adaptor

As Tuffty said, an adaptor will be 20mm thick, so you'll have one wheel of differing weight/dimensions sticking ~20mm further out than the rest of them - you'd probably be better off with the space saver until you find a full matching set of wheels

Thanks Alex. Maybe I should have been more upfront with my specific areas of ignorance!

I think I've been a little misleading here, in terms of the car the wheel I'm looking at is off: it's (obviously) not an 8P wheel - it's just off a facelift ('02) S3.

The chap selling it isn't sure if it's a 112 or a 100 bolt pattern, which makes it tricky!

Does anyone know if there's a difference in bolt pattern between the '99 and '02 car?
I can't imagine there is, but I don't want to ship this wheel down from Aberdeen and then find out it doesn't fit...

Cheers

8P is 5x112. Won't fit.

8L as you have is 5x100.

Any 5x100 8L wheel will fit. Just make sure the size is the same.
