thought id just let you guys know,

after my intake was fitted it was making a squealing noise between 4-5krpm, checked and refitted it multiple times, tightening etc all the jubilee clips. Had enough and gave my car to my mechanic and told him to get rid of the noise don't worry about cost.

So I went to pick up the car the next day and he told me it was the DV that was pretty much gone, he replaced it to a revision D one and told me this has fixed the noise.

Took the car for a spin, and WOW, feels like the car has been re-re-mapped lol, it holds boost so well, feels much faster, and the sound it makes is just amazing. Also the squeal noise has no gone too, the car runs a lot smoother now :D

The diverter valve fited to the car was a Revision G one from factory, and now that is has the Revision D one, it feels like a new car.

In my experience the G holds boost better as the rev D is plastic, tried both back to back and the rev G boosted earlier and held boost better

Could very well be the case, but since mine was goosed, anything was better than a broken one! this was the updated D version btw!

I recently put a rev D on mine. Wish I had of went the extra and put on the DV+ jobbie

Don't get me wrong, the Rev D is good but its not without it's faults, I went for mine because of the fact we all know the diaphrams will tear after time where as the Rev D cant as its a piston, it's probably better on a fwd as it makes it more linear whereas the Rev G made it wheelspin more low down - no problem in a Quattro/S3 mind!

@s3_trev, if you have a CAI it will sound like you have a DV anyway, the blowoff spacers sound OTT and a bit gay IMO

For the last couple of days I've been thinking about my DV, on my stock S3, aldo I did not feel that anythinig is wrong with the car or the DV itself but for procaution sakes and if I were to go to Stage 1 or 2 in the near future. I read that the revision D is an uprated version of the G version, that it's better, that it replaces the G version. And I almost ordered it at the Dealers, to find out, that the G version is still being produced and that's still available for purchasing, and is not entirely replaced by the D version, and that when they enter my VIN number into ETKA that they get the G version offered for replacement. They said that it's written in ETKA that the G version is for cars that were produced by Nov/2008. and that the D version is for cars made after Nov/2008, aldo it would fit on both cars. In my opinion and what I've read, is that the rubber G version holds boost better, it is after all rubber, and rubber seals better then plastic and metal. It probbably cannot endure remapped engine, but for a stock car I think that the G version is better. If I were to replace my DV, it would most probbably be with GFB DV+..

Well I didnt upgrade for sound reasons. Sound would also play no part in me upgrading to the DV+ from GFB. But yes you are right about the CAI, it makes a LOT of funky noises in general!

I take it you have a CAI trev? which one did you go for you don't mind me asking? I went for the cheap-o autotech one with the KN cone on the end, I only got it to see if it really was required for a stage 2 map and I've never bothered to swap back to test it

Alex

I went for the ceramic coated Revo one and I am quite happy with it. Although I had to "custom" mount it as I wasnt overly impressed with the factory installation recommendations. Just wasnt sturdy enough for me. But yeah its a good product! Yeah you def need a good CAI for Stage 2 dude, along with other bits.

maybe rev g holds boost better but it also fails faster. mine failed shortly after stage 2, and didn't notice the car was slower thought i got used to it, then i took it off for inspection and found a hole in the diaphragm. swapped it with rev d, the car was like remapped again, and for a long time i didn't have issue with it even onstage 2+. you should be aware that the tiniest hole is enough to lose boost and eventually over the time it will get bigger.
in my opinion this is the order of the dv's i've tried:
1. dv+
2. rev d
3. forge dv
4. rev g

the fact the Rev G still fails is the only reason I've kept my rev D, what brand is the dv+?

GFB makes dv+. as Go Faster Bits
true story bro :laugh::laugh:

Can the diaphraghm in the rev g DV be taken out for inspection without any consequences to the DV?

Yeah it just pulls out mate. You will need to do this if you ever upgrade to the DV+

Rev. D and DV+ addon is a great combo and works very well on K03's, but the Rev.G is said to release more pressure and hold boost just as well if not better than the D/DV+.

I believe that a new Rev.G is still cheaper than buying a DV+. Interesting to read that the G's are still failing as info I had was the that failure rate for tears etc was very low.

To the OP, now that you have a new D car will feel as it should....if it goes again you can always buy the DV+ , I run this set up on my 2.0 TFSI but haven't compared the car with a new Rev.G

I have just fitted the D and DV+ but my air box has gone faulty so boost has gone, hopefully the turbos not fecked, replacing the airbox thing tomorrow fingers crossed all is good.
