After 7 years of owning clios I fancied a change, picked this up about a month ago.

iPhone Pic of the Audi by chriscummins7, on Flickr

Got it for a good price, from a decent garage in harrogate. Previously owned for 3 or 4 years by a middle aged female doctor and with full audi dealer service history (Full history was a must for me with DSG).

It's a 'sport' spec, so a bit more bland than the s-line but I like that. It's subtle! I'll no doubt end up changing the wheels at some point, but having just opened my own business it's not a priority right now. Not to mention I've had it a month and I've driven it nowhere other than too and from my gym!

It's got a decent spec list, in the colour/bodystyle I wanted (the picture doesn't show it very well, but it's lava grey). Only thing it doesn't have which I would've liked is bose, heated leather or cruise control, but it's not a problem. It has the upgraded symphony audio apparently, which I think sounds ****** brilliant... would love to hear the bose! Panoramic sunroof and some other bits and bobs.

Oh, and it has this:

Engine bay shot by chriscummins7, on Flickr

It surprised me how quick it actually is on the test drive. Such effortless power! Not to mention the noise, which sounds very good in comparison with my decatted k-tec system from the clio... actual engine noise! And the quattro system will really come in handy too because I live out in the sticks!

No decent photos yet, as tbh it's pretty boring to look at. I quite like that though, sleeperish!

Cheers,
Chris.

Cruise can be added for about £150.

Or even cheaper if you get the cruise control stalk and bung someone £20 to code it with VCDS.

1. cruise control
2. subtle window tints
3. sportback roof spoiler
4. 18" alloys - 18 x 8J ET45 with 225/40/18 is perfect
5. maybe lower it just on 30mm eibach springs

6. drive round like a boss

really nice clean motor there mate, congratulations

Nice looking car, quite like the colour. Took a friends 3.2 for a spin while they were on holiday ;) nice power delivery.

Don't forget the A3's Quattro system is a Haldex system, so not permanent Quattro.

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying it!! so far it's ok for cruise control. I've got a 6hr journey down to Dartmouth next weekend in it so if it annoys me then I'll look at fitting it.

Sayam, what does the sportback roof spoiler look like?! Is it oem? And that list is pretty good tbh. Are 18s the size to go for? I love the Ronals that the S-lines come with so may see if any of those come up cheap. Failing that I might get some bbs CH/ CKs and H&R springs. Will have a look once the pirellis need replacing.

Great choice , I have the 3 door version , also in lava grey and 3.2 sport trim , great car , love it .
Never had cruise so don't miss it really .
I was going to change the wheels too but now like them , really easy to keep clean .
Just pulled the trigger on a roof spoiler from Stoke Audi , very helpfull guys , cost just under £250 , it arrived yesterday , only took a few days , the 3 door is different to the sport back though . I just need to remove the 'legs' get it sprayed and then fit it .
I have up-graded the interior a bit , wrapped the door inserts with brushed silver vinyl , fitted the alloy trimmed heater and headlight knobs from the facelift model and fitted a solid alloy gear knob ( manual box )
Apart from that just mud flaps , brushed silver mirrors and a few badges , Quattro etc .

I will take a picture of mine later and yes it's OEM, just finishes the back off nicely

Yeah IMHO 18 are the look and don't throw comfort out the window lol. I'd go for the 18" fat 5 which are OEM on s line cars of your year?

Maybe subtle window tints? Nothing drug dealer tho!

Sweet looking v6 mate

Thanks mate

Ooo, would be nice to see some pics mate! Sounds like you've been doing plenty of little jobs. Did you get an armrest for the interior too?

That would be great, would like to see what difference it makes!

And yeah, they seem to go cheap on eBay sometimes them wheels so I'll keep an eye out. Would be good to get that at the same time as a set of H&Rs too.

Unsure on the window tints to be honest, I've never really liked the look of them. Any pics of how dark you would suggest?

Does anyone have a link to someone's build thread with a sportback in sport trim worth looking at?

Jus subtle tint really.. Go to a tinting place and ask them to show you a light smoke all round? I jus think it sets the car off that's all

Here the roof spoiler mate, jus finishes it off nicely?

That looks superb actually. Is it a dealer only thing?

I've been toying with the idea of roof rails too... What do you reckon?

Deffo black roof rails... Gives it a more GT look. Espesh in white (mines white) without roof rails the car looks too 'smooth', I prefer slight rough look lol haha

But personally I would do go roof spoiler first. Then the roof rails will complement it

Even if you can get the roof spoiler after market I'd get a genuine one jus for the fit and finish would be better

I have a sportback 2.0tdi DSG looking to make it look a bit nicer with some added touches like above.

Iv got an aftermarket spoiler on my A3 SB. Some people prefer it others don't. I personally like it the fits not perfect but it cost me £110 for everything including spraying and fitting!

Here is a picture from a different angle ^^
Sticks out more than the oem S Line spoiler which is a bonus for me.

Actually , yea Chris , I did get an armrest , forgot about that , it was the first mod I did , they are really handy .

i personally hate the armrest , just gets in the way i would prefer the leather triangle grab handles but the price of them is astronomical . £350 a set is way over priced .

They are usefull when cruising on the motorway but otherwise. I agree , they can get in the way .
I know , the leather triangles are extortionate .
