Hi everyone,

I've been driving an 04 A4 Avant 1.9 TDI 130 Sport for the last few years. It's been a superb car – a perfect blend of performance, handling and economy – but with 185k on the clock and some expensive repairs ahead, I am now thinking of upgrading.

However, what would the equivalent model be between 2004-2007? I can find no official A4 Avant models during this period that claim to be a 'sport', and it's fairly unclear what the 'sport' actually signified between 2001-2004. It doesn't seem to be a factory issued name according to Wikipedia, which just cites 'A4 1.9 TDI 130 PS'.

Am hoping someone on here might know what model I should be looking to buy now...

I would stick with the car you have and fix the issues the car has ! Better the devil you know !

After 2004/5 sports became S-line. Think the main things are lowered suspension, leather seats, larger alloys, sportier body styling.

Same body, as said the later b7's became known as slines, lower suspension, door blades and a tail gate spoiler from memory but you will find that as with most Audi's they are very low spec as standard and need to be speced up with things such as leather, sat-nav, bose ect ect to get a desirable car, my B6 is rapidly gaining the miles and although needs no repairs i will proberbly move to a Merc as the spec is far better in standard form and means i don't have to spend an eternity looking for one in the spec. I like.

Thanks everyone. I think the lower suspension makes all the difference in handling, but I didn't realise the S-line option was more than trim. My current drive is a great car, but it needs £3k+ spending, unfortunately.

S-Line aside... The seats are different on the B6 Sport, you have the extendable thigh support and slightly more 'wraparound' seat bolsters with the sport seats compared to the SE. Steering wheel is different as well I think on the Sport. As previously mentioned, the Sport runs lower suspension setup (-15mm springs) not sure if the shocks are stiffer too to compliment the drop. I'm sure there's a few other things too. I'm think the Sport has different bumpers compared to the SE, no? Not sure about that one, mine's a Sport but has the Votex kit so haven't a clue what the bumpers look like underneath.

Just beware if your looking at a 2.0 Tdi at that sort of vintage that a lot of those engines had issues with Balance shafts and oil pumps failing
, culminating in total engine failures....just Google "VAG 2.0 tdi balance shaft oil pump" to open a whole can of worms... or go here http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...e-definitive-guide-audi-vw-skoda-seat.140949/ we didn't know about it when my Dad bought his so i spent a full weekend getting the sump off to find that someone had beat us to it and deleted the balance shafts and modded the oil pump...but at least now we have peace of mind

Mines apparently a b6 sport s-line. Its a jan 2005 car so one of the last b6's I believe. Its full sport spec + grey leather and factory s-line badges

That's interesting, mine's also the sport with grey (buffalino) leather and S-line badges, thought the badges were an add-on tbh as I didn't think they made an S-line on an '03.

Always wondered about those badges and whether my car actually came like that from new or if the badges were fitted at a later date? Guess I'll never know really :uhm:

The only B6 S-Line branded car was the 1.8T 190bhp..........all the others are sports, but the late sports like mine came with the same body kit as the S-Line mentioned but without badges and the rear bumper exhaust cutouts were different (none, 1 or 2 options)
