Looking good! Hows the handling with the wider wheels on the S3 been quicker? Yours pics make me want one like now.....haha.

Well, I don't really use the s3 for what it's really designed for, it doesn't get put on a track or anything. However, I couldn't comment on if it's any better because of the wheels, tyres are the same width but they went on at the same time as the coilovers so that's what made the most impact as I'm sure you know.

Do it mate, they are great!

Thought about putting the Ultralows back on, but then decided against it.. considering my daily drive and how it all but touches every single speed bump. Have been talking to someone recently with air ride and decided thats definitely the route eventually.

However, i must say I'm rather happy with how the height is, can't get any fingers in the front and rear arches which is just how i like it :icon thumright:

Anyway, photos because i don't think I've uploaded any with it on the AP's

Looks great - love the colour!!

Dewiper makes it look a lot cleaner at the back - think that might be my next job!

Sits perfect on the AP's, looks lower than what mine did. You taken the adjusters out of the rear?

Air is the way to go though, pity it's so expensive.

That might be down to the extra weight of the s3, no they are still in, still got roughly 10mm to go down on too ha

Must be the weight then, either way looks good.

I still stick with my original suggestion of going with a Blue/Black theme though ;)

Some photos from last night, nothing new though, trying to decide between a milltek or BCS exhaust system though, i know everyones gonna say BCS!

Love the darkness of the black headlining, really shows off how dark it is inside the car here

Great photos, smurfworth! The car looks very nice indeed.

I just stumbled across this thread after being away from this forum for a few years and it really makes me want to get an S3 again after bumbling about in an A4. It would have to be a sportback though... Baby seats and 3-door cars are just not a good combination :)

So this arrived and has been fitted, BCS Powervalve with 200 cell sports cat

What a tight fit the guys have done well on making it to such tight tolerances.

Wish it was a bit louder on idle and when the revs drop really though which is my only disappointment.

Sounds nuts on acceleration though!

Will have pics of how it looks when its lighter and the car is slightly cleaner

Wait till you have to go on a long motorway journey and don't have to suffer the droning of non-powervalve systems :)

Oh i know, after a while straight pipes get on your nerves, just wish it was that little bit louder on idle as it seems to me like its quieter than the standard system. Anyway, quick video here:

Nice update fella, car is looking V nice!

Exhaust sound good aswell, does it pop on every gear change?

How the hell can you drive the car like that? I've raised my susspension up now as speed bumps and potholes are awfull ! But still, surely it's not a smooth ride? Unless ofc the roads where you live are dead smooth? Does look the tits tho I must admit.

Cheers, haven't played with it enough to be able to tell you that yet, I'm sure there is plenty of time to see ;)

Easily mate, 3 inch ground clearance is plenty of room!

Seems pretty smooth to me for coilovers, you can't expect it to be like silk but considering its a daily driver i feel its fine. Roads around here are actually quite the opposite, i live right next to a school so 19 speed bumps on my daily route to work is what the car goes through twice a day. You just gotta learn about what its close to and what you can get away with.

Cheers, said the same to myself, love how it looks, you can't see any daylight under it while its rolling and it quite often tucks the top of the tyres while on the roll. Need to get some rolling shots one day, its something I've always wanted a picture of :D

Where do you live smurf?

Just outside of Plymouth bud, why what you thinking?

Spoken to Nige about how I was slightly disappointed by the lack of noise at low revs/idle and he told me people with the BMW 135i have modified the system by using a collet to clamp the valve slightly open thus giving more noise. So that'll be on my list of things to do. Can't fault BCS's communication and customer service. Gotta be the best system you can buy.

Link is here if anyone's interested, makes good reading: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=65439&start=0

Is that a more refined version of the golf tee mod? I vaguely remember reading about something similar a good while ago when I was toying with the idea of getting a BMW.

No idea bud, there's photos of the collet mod in the link. My experience and knowledge is only really limited to audi's.

Seems very similar but I just briefly read about it so not too clued up either.

Anyway, what's next on the list?

Well always wanted stage 2+ so slowly making my way to that, to get there still got clutch and fuel pump internals to do.

However, depends if the engine management light comes on with the exhaust wether it goes to stage 2 or if I go straight to 2+

I'd prefer to jump straight to 2+ would seem like a whole new car then.

Nice, definitely going the BCS Powervalve route myself next year, will be the last part of the 2+ puzzle also :)

Nice mod, BCS is top quality. Reminds me I need to order the rear section for mine.

It certainly is that, modified the valve today to clamp it open slightly, it's now back to oem sound level on idle and gives a nice noise while just pottering around which was exactly what I was after.

Personally I think it should come like it however it's always down to personal preference. The best thing about the BCS system is you can play with so many things which you don't have the possibility of with other brands.

I now get a beautiful deep idle noise, deep burble while pottering about, the full fat rally car noise on full boost, over run pops and lots of pops as the revs drop and best of all absolutely ZERO drone.

Sounds absolutely insane, took some photos too so will upload them soon.

Tips follow the shape of the diffuser beautifully

And then modified the actuator on the bcs backbox to keep the flap open slightly using this..

Which keeps the flap open slightly like so..

Looks beauty mate!

How much was that exhaust?
Also what are you averaging to a tank of juice?

Cheers bud, exhaust is around £1400 depending on what options you go for

Umm, the computer says 25.6MPG but I'm sure thats optimistic. gets anywhere between 250-290miles from a tank i'd say depending on what your doing with it.

Its no where near as bad as i was expecting so don't really care about the fuel usage :kissmyrings:

Interesting.. where did you get the lock ring from?
