Hi my a3 as lost quite a bit of power speedo has stopped working fuel gauge is up and down I also have race diagnostics fitted witch says the turbo boost is -860 mbar any 1 no watsbup with it and I got fault codes 17956/17938/17697/16885 at same time I cleared them but they just come back any1 help?

17956
17956/P1548/005448 - Ross-Tech Wiki
17956/P1548/005448 - Boost Pressure Controle Valve (N75): Open Circuit

This would explain the lack of boost... N75 is 'disconnected' electrically... either its unplugged or there is a break in the wiring (this is common)

17938 and 17697 I can't find a reference for on Ross Tech wiki but VCDS will have the descriptions if you can post them up

16885
16885/P0501/001281 - Ross-Tech Wiki
16885/P0501/001281 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22): Implausible Signal

This is the speedo drive essentially and is why your speedo doesn't work and the fuel gauge is all over the place... could be the sensor itself but more likely a wiring issue

17938 - Camshaft Timing Adjustment: Short to Ground
17697 - Turbocharger Bypass Valve (N249): Short to ground

With all those faults, I'd of thought they must all be related to a dodgy plug or some broken/melted wiring somewhere and not actually the parts themselves.

Does anybody no shat could be the cause I've followed the wires I can see and found nothing out of the norm I forgot to say aswell the recirculating valve only can be heard in 1st gear it's driving me mad any help is much appreiciated cheers

Could be a blown fuse too.

I also have a vague recollection of a failed VSS causing lots of weird issues, try unplugging it?

Ye that that be great cheers

update on my boost problem a audi side street garage had it for 2 days and cudnt solve the problem was told turbo was fine no engine faults coming up and apparntly they got my boost from 15 pai to 30 psi but the car still runs terrible was charged £40 for the the time spent looking at it,really stuck with what to do with the car now tempted to break it

I recently got my Audi A3 1.8t 2001 remaped and was fine for 3/4 days now there a issue with the actuator getting stuck open.
I noticed it when I'm giving the car some round my local roads it does it but when I'm on motorway or down country lanes it seem to work fine? A mechanic said that it's getting to hot and seizing would a front mount intercooler solve these problem or is there more to it?
