Hello, I have recently purchased an audi a4 2.0 tdi Quattro 170bhp, 2007, with a BRD engine, I have had this issue since purchased, when accelarating either on motorway or elsewhere! The glow plug light comes on and loses power, and now there is not much power when driving, since reading these forums, thought it could be egr pipe etc, I have taken this to a garage who have given me two codes, po299-obd and 00665 -vag and say boost pressure regulation reached? I'm no mechanic but they have recommended refurb the turbo? If I go ahead is there other items that can be sorted out like the egr etc, cleaned? So no need to keep taking it back. Hope you can help, I would be grateful. Thank you.

hi mate the do you trust the garage that you took it too, i only ask as it sounds very similar to the problem i had with mine, i have the exact same car and engine code. the problem with mine was the vacum unit under the inlet manifold, the part itself was only about10-11 quid but the manifold has to come off to get to it. might be worth trying this first before going down the more expensive road of a new turbo. good luck.

I shall try this over the week and see what happens, thank you very much for your help.

pretty sure that the p0299 code is the on that i had when i think about it but i only had one code and i notice you have 2 maybe the other one relates to the turbo but like i said try the vacum unit first. mine was happening when i was putting the engine under load whilst at speed for example giving the car a bit more gas as i start on a hill on a motorway.

Thank you very much for your responses, i will try the vacuum first and see, probably will need clean anyway, so worth doing, also is it worth replacing egr pipes etc too do you think? If all else fails then turbo it may be, but what you have mentioned about the loss if power is bang on with what i am experiencing. Will update this as the week gies by. Take care

No need to replace anything except the actuator and new gasgets.
Have plenty of carb cleaner to clean out the manifold.

Thank you for your response, where is the actuator located?

Hello folks, well the car has been at the garage since last monday, and had the following done, turbo rebuilt and services as the veins where knackered, intercooler changed as the old one had a pin hole, dpf regeneration is not happening and always showing zero, so they are no woundering ifs been re-mapped and getting someone to check it. Now the turno has more power the problem has got worse! Any ideas please would be grateful!

Thank you

I suffered this as well, didn't loose much power though and it stopped flashing after I had pulled in and cycled the ignition. New fuel filter cured it for me.

Ok will try that as well. Thank you! Never new my dream car would turn out to be a night mare

Had exactly the same issue with my B7 Audi A4 Special Edition 170 Quattro - ended up being the inlet manifold was broke. Had it replaced by Audi which cost £888 including parts, labour and courtesy car.

If you didn't want to get it replaced, have a look at APR performance and their inlet manifold delete kit..

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply, the garage has had a few problems with the car, they checked the inlet manifold and map sensors etc, and when taken if on a few test runs it still used to limp out. However when checked the exhaust after a run the front was hot and the back cold, so they tried disconnect it from turbo and car didnt limp out. It seems the chap i bought the car from must of had the problem and got rid to me. Chocking the engine when loading. Final checks tommorow i think and should get car back thursday.

Good luck! Glad they identified it. Any incline on how much the bill is?

Will find out the bill tommorow, its probably a big one, as they car has been there 2 half weeks, but ive used the garage fir nearly 15 years so thaf may help a little. I hope .

Bad news people! Car is still limping out when driving, had dpf removed aswell because it was choking the turbo, now sending turbo back to be checked! Will have to try blanking out egr too. So no car as yet!

Hi mate, not been back to the garage since thursday! What are vcds again?

Hello any body used aet turbos in yorkshire, wakefeild?

Thank you for your replys, will explain my dilemma when i get a chance, will research further. Again thank you

Hello people, sorry for delayed response to this thread, in the end had the turbo replaced And as mentioned previously by mm07, the main issue turned out to be the actuator, but as you know cannot just replace that as it all comes in as one unit, so it was done by AET turbos in yorkshire, had the car now for three weeks and so far so good. And enjoying the drive. Again thanks to all you people.
