I've had my S3 just two days and already I have had enough of the Bluetooth and my iPhone 5 (IOS 7.1.2). I've searched these forums and Google but can't find an answer - just other iPhone users having issues when they updated to IOS 7.

Despite knowing what I am doing (allegedly), it takes several attempts for each device (car and phone) to eventually find each other. Even then, there's no guarantee that they will pair. When they do finally pair, it seems OK briefly (30-40 seconds), then they disconnect. After that, the car will not connect to the phone and the phone says it can't find the car.

I get messages like 'No Service Found', 'No devices found' and on my phone I get a message saying make sure the S3 Bluetooth is turned on and in range - I'm sat in my car so it's definitely in range and the ignition is on.

I've deleted devices on both car and phone, I've rebooted both phone and MMI all to no avail. I had no such issues with my A5 which worked fine (abeit it was nearly 4 years old).

Has anyone else actually got an iPhone 5 on IOS 7.1.2 to successfully pair, connect and stay connected with a MY15 S3 or A3? Also, can you get it to connect automatically next time you go out to the car?

I have a 5s ... don't know these much difference than the 5 and I have the most current IOS. I paired within seconds and never had an issue since. I think I went into bluetooth on the phone and found the MMI listed and pair them.

I have Tech Pack (without connect) but must admit it's a MY14 car.... maybe try a friends Iphone or pop in to local Stealer and ask to try in an A3 with your phone?

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try my son's new Samsung S5 this evening. If that works OK, then I'll try to find someone who has an iPhone (my other son has one but he is away on his honeymoon at the moment). If no joy with them, I'll ask the stealer to let me try in another car.

Yes.
My iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1.2 works seamlessly with my car,
Pairs automatically when I get in the car and switch on ignition, get the little symbol to say it's downloading contacts etc. Then it's done.
All within 1 minute or less.

I had another thought and did a full factory restore of my iPhone. I still had similar issues as previously but the two devices (car & phone) were seeing each other almost immediately.

Finally they paired but when I tried to make any calls, the phone would lock up and the connection would break and then reconnect after a few seconds. At some point the connection became solid and I was able to make calls without any problem. I had a good play about and everything seemed fine.

The proof of the pudding will be going back out later and seeing if the phone auto-connects and stays connected etc.

Thanks again for the replies above.

While it's updating / syncing contacts I presume that the current contacts are still available for calls, etc?

I'm still having issues and having tried my son's Samsung S5 which worked more less straight away and also having realised that my mother has an iPhone 4 which also seemed to work OK, I am surmising that the issue is with my phone. I'm going to pop into my dealer tomorrow and try my phone in another car.

Prob not much help now but to confirm my14, ip5 on 7.1.2 works perfectly. Also partner has same phone and hers connects perfectly too.

The car is at fault! I went to the dealer today and tried a tech's phone in my car - no joy. Tried my phone in another new S3 and it worked a treat. Now booked in to have it looked at next Wednesday.

My car pairs no problem, might be an issue with yours. Glad to hear you've got it booked in,

Could it be the colour? Sepang is a problem.

+1 with my 5s

Also managed to be on a call, get in car and have Bluetooth connect & 'transfer' speaker to car. Also works on leaving car - continues conversation.

Only a gap of 1-2 seconds as it transfers from one speaker source to the other.

John.

Again, thanks for the replies.

I was tearing my hair out over this and getting really frustrated as I had only had the car an hour or so when I first tried to pair it up. I should have smelt a rat when during the handover, the salesman couldn't get my phone to pair. I said I'd sort it later but obviously not.

Not what you expect with a new car but at least it will get sorted.

I have iPhone 5 with 7.1.2 and it's connected perfectly every time since I got the car ..... except this afternoon on the way back from Cornwall. I checked the Bluetooth and it could see my iPhone and asked if I wanted to pair with it. From then on worked fine. It connects automatically when I get into the car. Are you using Hands Free Profile or Music Profile (I think it's called)? Mine is connected with Hands Free Profile.

Yes it only happens with BLUEtooth. REDtooth and WHITEtooth are fine!

Hands Free but whether audio streaming is active or not, it doesn't connect. As stated above, the Audi Tech has confirmed it's a problem with the car.

Thanks for the confirmation that yours works OK Pete.

I cant beleive there is such a big difference between models. Ive got an iPhone5 and the bluetooth in my S1 connects within seconds and is very good indeed. sorry to hear about your problems and i hope you can get them sorted ASAP

So I took my car in today to get the Bluetooth sorted. First update from the dealer says my car needs a new 'telephone unit' but they don't have the right one and will have to wait until tomorrow for correct one to arrive.

15 mins later, second update says the 5F unit is on back order at Audi and will take a week to arrive - but they will try to expedite and get it earlier.

So I collect my car and as I had to be elsewhere not longer after, asked the service lady to get my salesman to give me a call as I was not entirely happy.

Just had a call from the dealer's Sales Manager, explained why I wasn't happy (spoilt the whole 'new car' experience, faults not expected with a new car etc). Asked me what I wanted him to do and I said a tank of fuel and some rubbers mats would be nice. He says OK and I'll throw in the first service as well. I'm happy with that.

So, what is the cost of the first service for an S3? :)
