I apologise for creating this thread but I can't find any of the previous ones where this has been discussed. I'm looking at re-importing all my music back in to I-tunes but this time doing it at a higher quality, seeing as though I have the B&O speakers I thought I may as well make the best use of them that I can. I just want to check though before I do this that the system can play this format. I have the tech pack high with Audi connect if that makes a difference.

Thanks

It depends on how you intend to play the music in your car. If it's direct from an iDevice via Bluetooth or cable connection, it will work fine because the Audi will just receive an analogue signal. However, if you want to copy your iTunes library to an SD card or USB drive, this won't work as ALAC files aren't decoded by the Audi system.

Depends on the quality required, as a time saver, sign up for iTunes match, let the music sync, delete local library then download the matched music from the iTunes cloud. Could save you lots of ripping if your happy with the format......

ALAC isn't supported but if you can get them to 320kbps MP3s that would still sound great on your B&O.

I'm confused now! Two different replies! Will the format be unavailable even if use it through my I pod via a cable connection?

Nerdy Norm is correct. I was thinking only in terms of playing the formats without the iPod. Sorry for the confusion!

...but I still suggest, if space is an issue, 320kbs MP3 is indistinguishable (to me) from lossless in the car.
