Excellent. Thank you so much Steve. Keep them coming. :) x

Well, sad to say, but I've hit a bump in the road, so to speak. DVLA returned the forms to the dealer for the PP transfer. As the PP is on the Corsa I now can't insure the Audi from Wednesday as I can't carry insurance for two cars that reside on the same PP. Now the PP won't be on the car for at least another 10 days.

I'm livid, but backed into a corner. The dealer has given me two options:

1. Put a new NI plate on the car while waiting for the PP to transfer. I can then insure and drive it.
2. They pick the car up and put it into storage and lend me an RS Q3 until the transfer is complete.

I don't know what to do, Option 2 is very tempting but I have to entrust the A5 to them and that pains me.. Option 1 would mean the car having two plates from new rather than just the one as I would like.

It seems that once a query is raised by DVLA, the returned forms go to the back of the queue for processing unlike our previous system where DVLNI would have held the queue position and it would have been processed immediately.

Advice please... TIA

RSQ3.

Even though I don't "get it" with the RSQ3 I would definitely drive one about until everything had been sorted.

If you go option one I appreciate it's a bit of a faff having two plates, but it won't harm resale like multiple owners might.

But I'd do the RSQ3 option, IMHO. :)

I think i would personally go with the Rsq3 and wait for your private plate to be sorted out. Oh and can we have pics of that if you decide on that option. Im sure your car will be well looke after at Belfast Audi. :) X

Thanks for the suggestions, fairly unanimous!
If they can pick the car up then RS Q3 it is, but if they have to get someone to drive it the 20 miles to Audi on garage plates I'd be reluctant. I've barely driven it myself...

I'd go for RS Q3 too. No point going through the hassle of swapping the plates over several times. Get them to fill the RS Q3 with fuel and enjoy it. Can't you keep it off road yourself until the plates are sorted?

It's not keeping it off the road that's the problem, I can't get it insured so it's a hell of a risk with a £38000 car in my view (naturally very cautious!!).

So, the RSQ3 (with a full tank) arrives in the morning. The sales guy will drive my car up to Belfast on garage plates and store it until the PP is sorted. They couldn't get the transporter but at least I know he'll treat the car well.

In all fairness, they have been very good at trying to sort this out and although they really shouldn't have let the car out, neither of us fully understood the process that DVLA Swansea use to transfer plates. Unfortunately it looks like I was the guinea pig on this. Hopefully it will be done within the 10 day timescale now.

Whilst a massive pain in the posterior at least Belfast Audi seem to be doing the decent thing in trying to resolve the matter. It will be interesting to hear what you make of the RSQ3. I can't quite fathom it myself but maybe you'll be able to compare it to the A5 and come up with an explanation! :)

Also... I believe it is the law that you need to drive the RSQ3 like you stole it... :racer:

Well it arrived at 8:20am and sounds beautiful. The 2.5 petrol engine is smooth and the short maneouvres that I did to park it up for the day suggest it is immensly powerful (that's in comparison with the 2.0 TDi and 1.2 Corsa...)
I had to take eldest son to work and since he passed his driving test theory yesterday, he's keen to practice driving as the actual test doesn't appear to be far off now. So Corsa it was this morning. RSQ3 will get its first outing this evening.

First impressions are baffling, like many I can't really see why you would spend £47k on this. It's got lots of extra toys over the basic SE spec that the car seems to come with and that ramps up the price. It's not any nicer to sit in than the A5, seats are the S-Line, not the Supersports. Nav, Bluetooth etc seem to be the same. It has the S-Tronic box so I'll have a bit of a play with that and Mrs "I'll only ever drive an Auto" Statler is looking forward to getting her hands on it too....

Here are a couple of quick pics to keep your interest ;-)

That is quite smart. Was it full of fuel Steve? Thanks for the pics. :) x

Yes boss, it certainly was, although, a couple of runs to Belfast may empty it, I don't hold out much hope for fuel economy when I'll be 'driving like I stole it"... lol

Further opinon to follow.

Just don't get caught, and when the fuel gets low, take it back to Belfast audi and say it needs fuel. The worst they can say is no, lol. :) x

I think that might be a bit cheeky but I'll give it a go, lol

How about a tune to go with the RSQ3, what would you think suitable?

Guess what has just popped up on the DVLA website... both PPs are now on the correct vehicles. I may get home early and put some miles on that Q3. Looks like I may be able to get the A5 on the road sooner than I thought!

GCSE results day. Waiting on No1 son.
RSQ3, 6.8 miles, almost a quarter tank of fuel used, grin on my face, priceless!

Considering this is the most powerful car I've driven to date, it's more of a childish grin!!
The car is very potent. 300 hp under your foot is impressive. I had the boys and father-in-law out earlier and still it pulls like a n express train with 4 on board.
I'm not sure I actually see the point of having all that power. For me I couldn't ever see me owning something like this or an S3/5. To use it properly means tracking it because apart from the odd overtake you can't really use the power properly.
Hooning about for a few days is ok but long term I think I'd get frustrated with it.
Inside it's equipped much the same as the A5, seats, steering wheel, tech etc
Outside it looks very good on the 20" Rotors and does stick pretty well to dry roads. It drives very like a car despite being quite tall.
The boot is small and the rear legroom isn't that good for a grown lad or an adult.
One thing I have noticed is the rear seat armrest has a storage tray and cup holders. The A5 doesn't. Do any of you guys have this as it is mentioned in the A5 manual.
I'd spend the better part of £47k on something else if I had it :)

Thanks.
My daughter was very pleased too, which is a great relief alround. She will also be staring A levels next month. Seems like only yesterday she was just starting school - I must be becoming middle aged.

Thats great news Glyn. You not middle aged (yet) lol. :) x

Sandra, wrong...! We are middle aged. Teenage kids with GCSEs and driving Audis lol

Glyn, very pleased for her. It's a great relief I'm sure.

Steve
(Middle aged and proud!)

Well had word through earlier, the RSQ3 is going back tomorrow. Have received the V5 back for the Corsa and it looks like the Audi V5 is at the Dealer.
We took it for a farewell blast around some twisty country roads and it did very well. Looking forward to getting my sensible oil burner back tho. I can finally enjoy it!

Quick update, the A5 is now on it's PP and I have the V5. Insurance is sorted as well.
Unfortunately I will get it handed back to me in the morning, not this afternoon. Ah well, a few more miles in the RS Q3...

On that, I'm wilting, I've decided that I might buy one just for the sound, lol. I rolled the windows down going through my home town this morning and boy what a noise it makes. So reminiscent of the Audi Quattro S1/S2 rally car when it's at full chat.

Brings back so many memories of Marshalling on the Circuit of Ireland Rally in the mid-80's Group B days... That was rallying :)

The RSQ5 looks great Steve, im sure you'll miss it when you hand it back.

Hope to see your A5 again at the portadown meet :)

Oh when's the next meet? I've just spent a nice evening with my vagcom cable
