This is a weird one. My step mothers car was literally attacked by the dog as there was a baby rabbit stuck in the bumper. Long and short of it is the lower grills were ragged off the car pulling the out door temp sensor off. So I wired it back up by soldering it back on but no joy. The led is reading blank for the temperature on the radio and now as soon as the car starts the radiator fans kick in full whack!! It's a 2011 tdi estate

Well is was down to the external air temp sensor! Wired a new one in and that sorted it!
