Interesting thread, seems to be a whole industry pushing low obviously selling the parts to lower cars

Some cars look lowered some just look ridiculous, its a compromise between style and performance.

I have one which is lowered but not crazy, a 2001 saab 9-3 aero hot, I bought it like that, when I changed the tyres the rears were worn really badly on the insides, it looks good but you feel everything, roads just not good enough in the UK unless youre on the motorway where it really flies. I'd like to put it back to standard to see the difference but dont fancy the expense.

An adjustable system would be cool but again I'm sure not cheap !

Hmmm.... Is this too low?

:uhm:

That's not low, I think that's bang on tbh, it's about where my a4 sits and drives beautifully, handles better than standard setup and looks great ;)
I think people should get off their high horses and stop trying to impose their opinion on others. Low cars can look great (the beetle above), can drive better than standard and it's not chav to lower otherwise every good car manufacturer wouldn't be doing it over standard models eg s-line/s/rs...m sport....amg etc etc etc

I'd just like to say it's not been designed for handling.

And I'm currently studying a degree in road and race car technology, so i probabily know more about handling and generally most aspects of cars than the average joe.

Sorry I have not posted on this before, I have only just stopped laughing!!

So where did you do your degree? And what did you achieve? :lmfao::lmfao:

I had a BMW 328 Cab that needed new springs/shocks. Drove like a three legged pig. so I lowered it slightly, but turned out to be a massive drop. looked ace but was undriveable every day.

I had a Mk4 Golf 130pd that needed new shocks/springs. Drove like a three legged pig. so I fitted a 15mm drop- they must have made a mistake again as it was stupid low and undriveable on everyday roads due to hitting bumps etc and knocking teeth out.

Both had massively improved handling purely because the previous shocks were shagged.

I had a Nissan Micra. Drove like a three legged pig. Needed new shocks and springs so I fitted standard (starting to learn..) as it was a cheap car to sell on. Handled beautifully... Hmm...

Got a VWT5 van. Everyman and his dog has one down here in the deep south that has been lowered with big alloys etc. Mine handles fine. I'm going to lift it and fit biog knobbly tyres on steel rims. Feck-'em...

Just got my Avant 180Q tdi today. Back end is soggy- feels like the golf did when the rear axle bushes were shot, but the rear bounces a bit so probably needs new shocks and springs. Bit of a three legged pig but not as bad as most. It's a sport so I'll replace it with standard sport setup. Hopefully it will feel like a four legged pig again. That's what Audi intended. They called it the four sprung pork technique...

This thread is a boring old farts wet dream.

You drive your stupid S Line 8V; or any other car for that matter.

And if it corners flatter, smoother and faster than my S3 in any situation I'll **** in my hands and clap.

I have an a4 with 'sports' suspension.. My friends call me captain jack, because the car handles and feels like a boat when cornering.

I had no choice but to lower it with better suspension
