Hey everyone,
Owned my s3 for a little over a week now and really enjoying it.
Have been browsing the forum for info which has been very informative so far - thanks!
Have said Hi in the welcome forum but thought I'd say Hi in here too as this area is a bit more specific and post a couple of pics to show you guys.
The car is pretty standard as far as I believe. Only mods that I know of is that it has been lowered on Eibach springs and has been re-mapped, but all I have for the re-map is an invoice, no further info as to what has actually been done.
I'm pretty happy with the way the car is atm and don't really have any plans for it as such but we shall see!
While saying hello, I have a couple of initial things I'd like to sort on the car to tidy it up.
Headlight restoration & Lamin-x.
Unfortunately, one of the headlights needs restoring, which I've read all the threads on how to do it and what to use, which is great and will be giving this a go soon! However, my main concern is once done I realise I need to use lamin-x or something similar due to rubbing off the original UV layer. However, the uk website for this I can't seem to find a way, once on the website of actually buying the stuff at Lamin-X.co.uk • Race Car Headlight Protection Films | Clear, Tinted, Smoked, Yellow, Blue, Red !? Also I understand that the american site does pre pre-cut lamin-x specific to the headlight, however, our Audi's don't seem to be catered for... Audi A3 Headlight Covers, Tail Light Covers, Fog Light Covers and Clear Bras from Lamin-x Protective Films Therefore, my question is, how and where are people getting there lamin-x or alternative product from?
Also where is the best place on the internet to get everything from so that I can carry out the headlight restoration? I see maguires and 3M do kits, however, is this needed, or would it be best to source the parts of the kit individually? I have a corded power drill for the buffering and don't particularly wish to spend out on any other electrical tools as such!
Brackets from seats missing.
Also inside the car on both the front seats there seems to be a specific piece of trim missing, please see photo below. I've looked through the parts numbers threads, however, as of yet haven't managed to find this piece? Does anyone happen to know the part number / what I can type into google or ebay to source these 'things'?
Rubbed off trim/buttons.
This is no massive problem, just somethings that is bugging me. Anyone got any ideas of what can be done to rectify the problems with these issues, or whether anything an actually be done rather than actually replacing the whole of the air con unit. I guess the headlight control unit could be replaced fairly cost effectively?
Electric folding mirrors?
Does anyone know whether you can replace the control unit for the electric mirrors to the one where you can twist the knob round to electrically fold the mirrors in? If so would it be a matter if simply getting hold of the control unit with this function and simply replacing it in the door handle here, or would further modifications be required to the mirrors themselves? This would simply be a quick, potentially easy mod to do I was thinking which would be useful for me as I regularly park on busy streets. However, if this is mega bucks / impossible, It's not that much of a big deal of course.
Thank you very much in advance if anyone can help me out with any answers or point me in the right directions this would be very much appreciated!
Thanks again,
Jase
