3 months into ownership and I'm finding the oil usage quite alarming and much more than my previous S3.
The car is a 59 plate S3 with 57k.
In the 3 months i've owned it, i've done 4k miles and used roughly 2L of oil.
Thats not excessive in Audi's eyes, but nonetheless would equate to a complete change of oil between oil changes!
So go on, how much does yours use?

Quite a bit, in 2 months after having a service the oil light came on and I nearly poo'd myself.

Always carry oil in the boot since

There's quite a few threads on this,so it's worth searching on it,but the overall finding is some use a lot,and some use very little.

Mine,before and after it's rebuilds,uses very little.

Yeah I've done some reading and it seems it affects a range of cars from a specific period up to my12 when revised piston rings were introduced.
I'm just about to go Stage 2 from standard so don't want it getting worse and then having to go back to Audi

Mine uses very little about 1/2 litre between services.
On previous Tfsi cars I've found if you drive it hard when cold they use quite a lot.

Mine was the same when using dealership Castrol 5w30 however, my local dealership was taken over by Lookers and started using Shell Helix Ultra 5w30 and oil consumption has gone up (they used to pride themselves on using "the ONLY oil Audi recommends" which was written next to the cost on the bill!). When I questioned this I was told it was 507 approved and it was a new oil supplier contract - I translated this to more profitable. I would say it is using closer to double this now judging with what is left in my top up bottle.

Think I'll try go back to Castrol or try Millers Nanodrive which everyone raves about next service which will not be at the dealership to confirm.

Mine is stage 2+ and is my daily driver, it does lots of commuter miles aswell as a few hard driven miles.

I top it up maybe once every 4-5 weeks which is roughly around 700 miles. it doesnt take much top it up, maybe half a litre. The best thing to do is check it every week and make sure it hasn't dropped down to dangerous levels.

TFSI engines burn oil, its a fact. Nothing to be overly worried about I don't think.

Good job Iv just read this thread. Had my 2011 A3 2 litre TFSI a few weeks now and haven't checked the oil yet. Will have to keep an eye on it now. Anyone know what oil I should use as mines on a long life service schedule.

Had mine just over 4 months now and done almost 5k and not needed to top up yet.

My cars done 36k, 35k @ Stage 2 power and a very abusive driver and mine uses ****** all.

Saying that it does get serviced every 5k...

Hello, sorry to interrupt thought I'd post here rather than start a new thread.
I have a 1.8tsfi bought it at 88,300 it's now down 90700 and I've had to put in 3 litres of oil. Is this something to be concerned about? That's 1 litre every 800 miles or so. 2/3 of those miles has been motorway miles, the rest has been short 1-5mile journeys. Is there anyway to use less oil?

Thank you.

I think according to Audi for the 2.0 Tfsi they quote up to 1L in 1000km(620miles) is normal. I would think the 1.8 would be similar.
Sounds like your near to that!

As for mine, according to what's been said, mine is a little heavy on oil but not out of the ordinary. At least I know the oil will always be in good shape lol

I've done 2k miles since I owned the car and the oil hasn't shifted..

Mine does not use any really, I last serviced the car 4600 miles ago and the reading on the dipstick is more or less the same as it was when I filled it, saying 1L to 1000km (600 miles) is normal does not seem right to me, that would mean you could go through 10L of oil in 6000 miles!!??

Yeah i agree but i beleive that is the threshold that they will look at claims for repair under warranty or goodwill.

I have had the car since March and I have had to fill up twice. I have probably done 3000 miles!

Mines is 59 plate stage 2+ never uses a drop, I am very funny about my car when it's cold it always gets plenty warm up before I even think about putting the foot down but my mums gold gti uses a lot and she just jumps in it and drives! Think she revs it quite a bit maybe something when it's cold?
