afternoon all,

I have a 1.9 tdi 2004, when the engine is warm there seems to be a judder and a drop in boost from around 2500 rpm in all gears. Sometimes this triggers the esp light and the car goes into limp mode. Turn the car off and then on again and the problem dissapears for a bit!! No codes are stored on the ECU.

I have plugged in a data logger but I can't make any sense of the data that its logged!!!!

I have replaced the following today:

EGR Valve
Map Sensor
Temp Sensor

Still juddering but not as bad!! It just feels like something is getting stuck and the power wants to get through but cant!!

I've read LOADS of posts from people with similar issues, however none I have seen have been solved or at least documented!!

Someone please help I'm all out of ideas!!

Could be sticky turbo vanes. You could try the mr muscle trick.

Thanks Ian, will give it a try, Someone had suggested Injectors / Injector fault

Hi dan, yes it does but it's not free flowing it feels like something is holding it back but it wants to get free!! Everything is fine until it heats up!! Could it possibly be the particulate filter??! Maybe not as you usually get a display some up for that

You'll not have a DPF afaik, I dont on mine, think they came in later in the 2.0TDI B7s.....or something.

Have a look through my threads about my turbo failing, now wanting to scare you but it might give you some insight into symptoms.

Although it sounds like sticky VNT mechanism to me though so Mr. Muscle might sort you out!?

Thanks for your advice, it doesn't scare me it's just annoying me!!! I have even looked at getting a new engine for it!! I can't gt to my turbo to do the mr muscle clean!

I have the same engine as you and I can assure you it is possible. Its a bit tight but it can be done. Try it on a transverse engine thats really fun.

Right, little update. I plugged the logger in again today, surely enough the judder came on after 15 mins. Got to my mates garage, plugged the logger in and cylinder 2 injector is faulty! Don't have a spare lying around so took it out cleaned it up put it back in until euro can deliver one. Blood thing didn't miss a beat on the way home!! TYPICAL!!
