Hi all,
I remember someone having a problem with their shower earlier in the year and being able to sort it with the help of some friendly and knowledgeable audi-sport members. Well, I have a problem with my boiler and wondered whether anyone might be able to offer some advice.
It's a Vaillant combi-boiler (can't remember exact model), only about 4-5 years old. A while ago we had a minor gas leak under the hob in the kitchen, and transco came out and turned off the gas and put a "blocker" on. We called out a plumber who fixed the gas leak and reconnected the gas.
He then commented that the boiler had not been switched off which was wrong as there was obviously no gas being supplied to it so it could cause some damage when it tried to fire up. It seemed to be working fine though so that was that and he left.
However, ever since then the hot water has been playing up. The central heating works fine, but every now and then we can't get any hot water. It usually sorts itself eventually (after turning the hot tap on and off a few times) so we've not worried about.
For the last 2 days though we have not been able to get any hot water at all, and the stranger thing is that the heating is on permanently, even though its set to timer mode, and the timer is switched off completely! Last night I actually turned the boiler off completely so as not to waste energy on the heating. Turned it back on this morning and it seems to be ok again. Anyone know what could be causing this?
They say these things come in 3's - had my car written off, now the boiler's playing up .... wonder what the 3rd thing will be!
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Mike
