MeisterR Coilovers

Few of my mates are using them on there evo's and they live by them :)

Just thought I'd update this thread.
I purchased a set direct through MeisterR
Fitting them this weekend.
Read loads about them on other forums and they get positive reviews so hoping for the same.

let us know how you get on with them. My brother says they get good rep over on the Honda Civic forum but isn't sure how much R&D they've done on the VAG side of things

Tbh they've not done much if any. They mentioned to me if anything needs tweaking there happy to provide the same level of development as they did with the mini's.

When I used to have a civic 5 years ago he was the go to guy.

He'd totally customise the suspension for uoy depending what you wanted, nice product but its not dirt cheap.
I'd have them if I could justify it

How did you get on with them ?

Not too bad mate. Only issue was the locating flange part on the front damper which the strut to hub bolt goes through wasn't quite the right size. Sorted it with a dremel though.
Got no shims in the rear and the damper is at the length it was supplied to me as (455mm between mounting holes).
On the fronts got the preload set to 175mm (as advised by MeisterR) and have 5mm spare thread remaining.
Damper settings are 24 clicks from hard on the rear and 16 clicks from hard on the front (again as advised from MeisterR for the initial base settings).
Going to let everything settle then have it aligned at Unit18 in Milton Keynes. I think once it's settled I'll probably drop it that last 5mm on the front, but will confirm that later.
I'll get a side shot sorted soon to show how it currently sits. I'm sure it'll drop slightly in a few weeks so will update this thread then.

anthony89 - this will be my first time using them for an alignment.
For the past 2 alignment's I've had done on my car I have used JPS Motorsport in Bletchley. They were spot on the first time however the 2nd time I used them it was due to fitting the SilverProject adjustable top mounts. They don't have much experience with these top mounts and I found the outcome was nowhere near the standard shown when they did my car previously (which was excellent).
I spoke to Unit18 and they mentioned they have a fair bit of experience with these top mounts hence why I'll be trying them out.
Ideally I'd like Alex at AKS Tuning to do the work as I have used him since owning my mk4 Golf GTi and rate his work as excellent, however he's always extremely busy so must be booked up well in advance.

So here's the pics, forgot about taking them at the time so there in different location but hopefully it gives you an idea of the amount of drop available with these coilovers. Excuse the fact its a TT and not an S3, this board, IMO, is much better for more performance/handling knowledge then others I know of. Coilovers will be the same for the S3.

Went to Unit18 today to have the alignment done after fitting the coil overs. Result is disappointing :(
The owner there mentioned to me before that he would be doing the alignment as there was more adjustment now available on my car and as much as he trusted his workforce he personally wanted to take this on. Did this happen….No. One of the other guys was supposedly given some figures for the car to be set at and went away and done it.
I was told that the car would take circa 2.5-3hrs to do, quite excessive I thought, but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Did this happen….highly unlikely. From picking up the car and looking at the figures it would appear nothing has been done to the front and all that's been adjusted was the rear end. In fact the chap that did the work did mention readjusting the rear end. And even there's no before figures given on the sheet…so who knows???
In real time driving the car it feels bad, no, very bad. It's extremely twitchy and the ESP light flickers at every possible moment.
Took the car for a test drive down to AKS Tuning in Oakley where Alex there gave me some figures as to what he would set the car up to (Ideally I would have him set the car up however he's extremely busy and would be a good 2-3 months before something could be arranged within both our schedules), these are in pencil on the result sheet below.
Spoke to Unit18 after and explained my concerns and my opinion on how the car is like now (in all honesty it felt better before the alignment!) and they are getting the owner to contact me on Tuesday.
