vcds in Reading area?

Dumb question. Assuming TPMS = tyre pressure monitoring? Doesn't that need something in the wheel to work?

Yes, the ABS module (as long as you have PR code 1AT, and you will as you have an S4) measures wheel speed and rotation and any change triggers it. Though I got a flat a few weeks ago and it didn't seem to notice that!

Razza - if you have no luck, I'll PM you when I'm next in the Reading area with access to the cable.

I just checked the VCDS map on this thread and there is a guy near you mate.

VCDS (formerly VAG-COM) forum

Oh right, never checked his profile suppose it is worth a shot!.. You going to AITP?

Trying oxfordrich, also the vag place tried to do it but couldn't find out how, spoke to the specialists he deals with but found out they are Audi master technicians, so probably don't know...!
I did keep mentioning the hidden menu but obviously he didn't take it up with them. He's asked for me to drop it back round next week and he'll use the instructions on these forums as he wants to know if it can be done as well, so hopefully between them I may get sorted...

Yes, I thought so, but there's a version that works off rotation speed:
AudiEnthusiasts TPMS

Thanks mate, makes sense. Our VW Jetta has TPMS which someone told me works off the ABS. TBH though the only time it has ever come on is when I pumped up the tyres and forgot to press the reset button!

Where abouts do you work then, as sounds like you know Theale...? I work at Arlington business park.
I lived in Theale for a year in 2005 which is why I know it. Currently work at Green Park by J11.

Not activated, the guy tried coding it today but it wouldn't activate, however he wasn't aware if hidden menu and was trying long coding.
Hopefully some printouts from forums and him having a play to really understand the depths of the system next week should work. Good news is that he'll do that for free next week, so just need the line up what I want done. He did the fogs whilst turning today, but I'm confident in feedback here that he can get to Bluetooth and TPMS, it's more to prove a point now to him and Audi who say it can't be done...

I thought all S4s came with TPMS as standard, apologies, it's not. They wanted £75 for it!

What are you doing to your bluetooth?

Can I suggest a mod for next week... I have my handbrake set to release when I put my foot on the accelerator, regardless of whether my seat belt is on or not. Also, if I press the button to release the handbrake, it turns off, regardless of whether my foot is on the brake. They've both come in really handy for me, e.g. when i jump put the car to move the OHs Passat out the way, I jump out, move the Passat, then can jump in and reverse into my space - without putting my seatbelt back on etc.

There's also ambient lighting, lap timer, oil temp and timed ventilation which are good things to add.

Audi want money for everything lol :)

Just need to activate it as it's "not installed" yet have 3G MMI and mic installed already. Needs hidden menu to do it from what I've read.
Don't need one of those mods as if I press the accelerator I don't need to take the handbrake off, it goes off automatically...
Already have ambient lighting installed, timed vent, oil temp, battery meter (if poss), hill hold lite all sound up for grabs

It releases automatically when you put your foot on the accelerator, it's meant to. But only with your belt on or foot on the brake. I've removed both those requirements.

I'm attempting to fit the full hill-hold tomorrow (weather dependent!)

I think the lite thing is where the car doesn't roll back for a second or 2 when you're on a hill... long enough to take your foot off the brake and onto the accelerator. The full one holds the car still when you stop, on an incline or not. Like when you come to a junction, or traffic lights, stop the car and it will stay stopped with no interventon from the driver (at the moment I have to apply the handbrake). When you put your foot on the accelerator, it releases. I also think that it uses all brakes to hold the car and not the handbrake as there's no 'dipping down' of the rear of the car when you go to pull away.

And is the full version just coding or hardware as well?
It's a new switch & wiring.

Surely though my experiences of an auto is when you release the brake you're engaged in gear and thus not going anywhere (if not forward anyway)?

When you stop at traffic lights/a junction & take your foot off the brake, unless you apply the handbrake you'll roll forwards. Hill Hold stops that.

Don't disable the footbrake option if you have an Auto.,if you reach in the car and operate the switch, the car will start moving !!! you might not be the car or parked right up to a wall etc.

If anyone planning this, the seatbelt optionp apears removed on the B8.5

Well hopefully you've put it in P or N if you've got out of the car. If not, more fool you*.

* you doesn't mean you Audi.Quattro, it means a person in general.

Cost depends on where you get your bits, I got the switch for £10 and the rest of the parts for £20 from Audi. Time was about 4hrs, would be done quicker if I did it again, but I wanted to get everything right - no jury rigging! Now when I stop, a green P light appears on the dash and goes off when I put my foot on the accelerator again.
