How many miles is too many?

I've spotted a 2007 S3, with every extra I wanted, the downside is 76,000 miles. Providing all service history is present and correct and the car is in good condition, should I otherwise be concerned ? I only do about 5,000 miles a year.

What price range would be reasonable on said car?
 
12k a year I was told,mind you when I was contacted by Audi for a PX they told me the 8k a year was excessive as it was my car lol

lol. Its like leather seats, if their car doesnt have it they say cloth is better.

No doubt the mileage is reasonably average for the year, as much as it is also common to see 40K or less. Its just Ive never owned a car with more than 60K so am not sure if I could expect more parts failing regularly, thus negating the lower price of the car itself, not to mention eventual resale value?
 
76k is nothing as long as its been serviced no bother at all!!!!!

Boydie's on here had over 85k and was perfect and he loved it!

As said, 76,000 is nothing. Just do the usual checks, see if it's been serviced regularly, belts done, clutch is good etc.

As long as it's been looked after, they'll still be good for 100,000+ miles
 
76k is fine, most of the big jobs should have been done around 60k and its age. I wouldn't let it put you off, just think you might not come across another in your budget with all the extras you require.
 
Mine's "only" done 66 000 miles,but all but the first 10 000 have been at 360bhp or for the last 30 000 miles,over 450bhp.

If they're well maintained they're very reliable cars.

You need to ensure that the relevant service items such as Haldex,cam belt etc etc have been done.

Pulled out of this particular S3, seller warned of wear to drivers seat bolster which I know is common. After seeing a photo though, ouch, looks like him or the previous owner wears t-shirts made from sandpaper!

Search continues.

Wear on the seat bolster is a cheap fix from any leather restorer.
 
You can a DIY kit or use a leather restorer. I just know it's not expensive.. Google is your friend.
 
Yeah don't let that put you off and 76000 is nothing really as long as others have said its been looked after :)
 
My previous had 94k with full ash it ran like a dream and to be honest drove better than the one I have now which has 52k. I also still got 11.5k for it from insurance so 76k I wouldn't worry just make sure it's been serviced and well maintained like every one says.
 
My S3 has just hit 99k drives mint, pulls mint and still looks mint. I always think its better to have a car on slightly more miles thats been looked after as the car is use'd to being used, and how do you know that the car doesn't only have low miles becauce its a ****ter that keeps braking down or fault after fault that it dont get driven so then it will have low miles. In the garage more than on the road.

Like every one mentions aslong as it has been looked after you cant go wrong, and buying any car its a gamble as if its going to happen its going to happen you cant stop fate.
 
Mine is a late 2009 and I have 72k miles (over half at Stage 1 and 5k at Stage 2+) FASH and well looked after. I do 20-25k per year! Car feels great and still feels 'new'

My advice is to test drive as many as you can, inspect everything, and you will be able to tell the difference between a good one and a rotter.

76k, barely run in yet. Mines ticking over to 198,000 and soon to be mapped. Frequent lube services are a must

I know that you can't compare an S3 to a 2005 TDI 2.0 Sport but mine is just about to turn onto 168,000 miles and is in outstanding condition. So far the only thing it has had over servicing is a new radiator and a new inlet manifold flap.
As long as the car has been regularly serviced, the price and extras are right, go for it!
The seats can always be changed if they are that bad
 
What milage is recommended from you guys for cambelt and water pump . Was thinking 40k?

I had mine done recently as I hit 5 years... Manual says 5 years or 75k

Bought mine 2007 S3 at 69k miles , currently at 75k miles didn't come with full service history only found that out after commiting to the car so a big gamble but I've had it for over 18 months now and besides it needing a new battery and the heater blower wasn't working due to build up of dirt I've had no major issues.

Can someone verify this about a cambelt and water pump service interval? My car is 5,5 years old, it has 60k miles, and the manual for Croatia clearly states that the interval for cambelt change for the 2.0 TFSI is 115k miles without mentioning any time interval. I didn't make half as many miles, and I don't know what to do..
 
Weekly shoppers will have lower mirages than motorway cruisers (I do 2k a month) but will be stressing the car more.

148K and sweet as and running up to 296 bhp and 525 lbs/ft from a V6 diesel and has never let me down, in fact all my cars are 100k plus and all start on the button, testament to Audi build quality? or just good old fashioned regular servicing?, 76k?, just run in I'd say! lol
 
It depends on the type of driving, too - mine is about to clock over 40k but most of that has been in 6th gear gently pulling along at 2500rpm on the M6. I'd rather have that than 25k around town, up and down the gears, constantly on and off the power, lock to lock steering and bouncing off every pothole in sight.

Usually 115k miles or 5 years i'm sure, so will need done...

Is it stated like this in your servicing plan? I have the 115k miles warning, but not the time frame, could you please check this, and posibbly give a picture of your servicing plan..:anbet::rulez::rtfm::):)
 
In my 2007 manual it states 115k for toothed timing belt, no timed interval.
 
Yeah just checked mine and it says 114k.. But i'm sure i've seen somewhere it was also every 5yrs.. Got me thinking now, cause I was just about to get mine done because its at 5yrs now
 
163k on my 07 PD170 drives like new, made standard power FASH
