I've just taken my A3 in for a service and the guy mentioned the Haldex clutch needs a service at 3 years (She's a little shy of 2 and a half years old now, so obviously I declined to get it done today!).

I didn't ask him for a price, but I'm just working out how much to budget for come March when I've got the MOT and this to pay for.

The Audi site says 900 quid for the clutch, but I'm assuming that's for a new clutch entirely, not just a service! (Please?!)

Could someone give me an idea of how much I should expect to pay, come March - a ballpark estimate would do.

And also I saw someone say it needs an oil change at 20k and filter at 40k? As I'm on 38k or so now, should I get it done earlier than the 3 years he mentioned?

Thanks

40k - haldex service - you don't mess with the clutch.

So god knows what he's been taking.

Apart from the ****.

the haldex service is just a Haldex oil change - they don't take the thing apart?

Your car had the gen 4 haldex mate and it just needs a haldex fluid change every 3 years or 40k, shouldn't cost more than £70 even from Audi.

The "needs a service" was probably my phrase, not his :p I think I just read "Haldex clutch" or something in the service book and added it to him saying the Haldex needed something at 3 years... servicing I can work out, but I've never had a Quattro before this one.

Thanks, I'm on 38/39k ish now so I might get it done next month if it's sensible money, I'm about to start a longer commute than I'm currently doing so I'd rather make sure the car's in good shape. I'm even (but don't let her hear) consider trading in for a newer model... although I'm not convinced a moderately specced 2014 car is much of an upgrade from a 2012 Black Edition with most of the trimmings
