Hi All,
Nice to be here on this forum. I've gone through some of the posts and I anticipate a great time finding help. It's a little surprising that not much folks from Africa have joined the forum.
I recently got a 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro B6 from a 2nd user (first user had been in States with full service history).
Thing is, there was some massive issues with the auto transmission and following the advise of my Volks/Audi specialist mechanic, I had it replaced a manual transmission.
After the procedure and some other expenses to get it up again, the vehicle isn't looking so bad, though I'm not done with the refurbishment.
It drove fine (regardless of some persistent warning lights - Check Engine, ABS, Airbag and Brake) this morning when I braked from high speed in 5 and since then it's been difficult getting it into 1 and reverse.
I'm calling the guy immediately; but any opinion here please?

Looks great! the rear audi circles look odd, did you do something to them?

Was the clutch pressed as you were braking? did you come to a complete stop?

difficulty getting into gear is usually the gearbox linkage which needs some adjustment

Thanks guys.
@lowlife89 the rear logo sticker does look funny: I think there must've been a paint smear around it, making it look darker. I've actually ordered a replacement which comes with cold led light illumination.
The clutch wasn't depressed while I was braking, and the car sputtered to a complete stop.
I had the folks tow the car away and they discovered that they had neglected to put gear oil at some place under the gear itself. They had to replace the transmission (at their expense).
But after driving the car again for two days, I was surprised when it started giving empty fuel symptoms by jerking even while the fuel guage indicated and estimated I still had about 65 miles to go.
After fueling it, the transmission isn't quite so smooth again, with the second gear feeling reluctant to pick up from a relatively low speed. And afterwards the first gear wouldn't engage.
All these happened within 3-4 days after replacing the transmission. I've called in the mechanic again.
Any leads please?

@S3 GAZ: During the conversion from auto to manual, they had changed the pedals into a set of accelerator, brake & clutch.
After they replaced the non-lubricated manual transmission, I'm not sure they changed the clutch; looks much like the same to me.
